Warning! Spoilers ahead for Action Comics #1065!The Super-Family might be in danger, but with a new weapon, Supergirl is leading the charge to stop Brainiac's latest scheme. Superman's classic nemesis has stolen all of Metropolis' most powerful heroes in his twisted search for knowledge. But the Maid of Might is arming herself with a killer new weapon to take Brainiac down.

In Action Comics #1065 by Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, and Mirko Colak, Supergirl and Superboy have just been liberated from their containment units. Unfortunately, the two Kryptonians are still miniaturized. Thankfully, with Parasite and Livewire's assistance, the heroes make their way to the armory onboard Brainiac's ship.

Supergirl and Superboy are brought back to normal size and the team all grab a weapon from the armory to fight Brainiac's other selves. Leading the crew is Supergirl, armed with a giant energy gun that she uses to blast the Brainiac variants. With her new weapon, Supergirl single-handedly takes down seven Brainiacs.

Supergirl Easily Defeats Brainiac's Army with a Powerful Energy Gun

For some time now, Brainiac has been observing Earth, curious about why the planet had such a large population of metahumans. The alien villain gathered the most powerful forces he'd ever had, including an army of Czarnians, and launched an attack on Metropolis. Both the Czarnians and Brainiac drones laid waste to the city, drawing the attention of its most powerful protectors. But it was a trap, and the Czarnians kidnapped powerful heroes like Supergirl, Superboy, and Livewire. The collected heroes were brought to Brainiac's ship where the villain began conducting experiments to gain the knowledge that eluded him.

Ordinarily, Supergirl would have no use for a gun or any kind of weapon since she possesses the full spectrum of Kryptonian powers. But as she and Conner found out, Brainiac is somehow inhibiting their powers, even after they returned to full size. Thankfully, Brainiac is just as keen on collecting weapons just as much as knowledge. Though not usually one to use firearms, Supergirl takes to her new gun quite well, taking out a majority of the Brainiac variants. Though she's bound to get her powers back eventually, there's a good argument for Supergirl to keep her weapon.

Supergirl's Gun is a Good Backup Weapon

As powerful as a Kryptonian is, it's not uncommon for them to become de-powered, either through gold kryptonite exposure, red solar radiation, or even magic. When that kind of thing happens, the last thing someone like Supergirl needs is to have nothing to protect her. But with a gun like the one she found, Kara can easily fight off any opponent that comes her way. Sure, weapons might not but the Super-Family's usual style, but it's hard to say Supergirl doesn't do an amazing job wielding such a powerful gun.
