The Family Chantel: I Believe Heartbreaker Pedro Jimeno Never Loved Chantel Everett (Did He Use Her?)
Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett's marriage was a trainwreck on The Family Chantel, and I don't think Pedro ever loved Chantel. The Dominican man and American woman met when Chantel traveled to Pedro's home country for vacation. 90 Day Fiancé season 4 highlighted their journey to the United States and marriage, with relations between Pedro's and Chantel's families spelling trouble. As one of the franchise's most successful couples, it wasn't surprising when the pair were given a spin-off.
While The Family Chantel season 5 is in the rearview mirror, aftershocks of Pedro and Chantel's divorce are still palpable in the reality TV universe. Chantel appeared in 90 Day: The Single Life, and Pedro's still advertising his growing real estate business on Instagram. As rumors of Pedro getting a Family Chantel spin-off abound, it's become clear that Pedro never really loved Chantel. I think he used Chantel and left her heartbroken. Pedro isn't ready for love at all given his terrible track record with Chantel.
Pedro Likely Only Married Chantel For A Green Card
He Never Really Loved Her
Close
As Chantel and Pedro get some distance from each other, it's become increasingly obvious Pedro only married his ex-wife for a green card. Early in their marriage, Pedro seemed distant and disengaged from building a deeper connection with Chantel’s family, despite their close-knit nature. Furthermore, he always sided with his mother and sister, Lidia Morel and Nicole Jimeno, even when they were insulting Chantel.
Understandably, Pedro wanted to chase his goals in the United States, but he should've left Chantel's heart out of the equation.
Pedro's focus always appeared to be on his personal goals and making money, such as building a career in real estate and bringing his mother and sister to the United States, rather than on his relationship with Chantel. This behavior fueled speculation that he was more invested in achieving his objectives than nurturing their marriage. When Chantel expressed concerns that he was spending too much time with coworkers Laura Delgado and Antonella Barrenechea, Pedro dismissed her concerns rather than spending more time healing his relationship.
Pedro Dismissed Chantel Towards The End Of Their Marriage
He Didn't Care About Her Emotions
Close
Towards the end of their marriage, Pedro's treatment of Chantel in The Family Chantel became increasingly dismissive. I believe this is because he never truly loved her and instead used her to secure a stable future in the United States. Over time, Pedro shifted his focus away from their relationship, investing his energy in his personal goals, particularly his career in real estate, while neglecting Chantel emotionally. His distant behavior made it obvious that he was only out for personal gain, promoting himself online as his marriage crumbled.

Pedro's indifference towards Chantel became more noticeable as he stopped showing interest in working on their relationship, even as Chantel appeared committed to trying to save it. When Chantel and Pedro finally decided to divorce, he was more concerned about selling their home together than her broken heart. As his ambition in real estate grew, so did his disregard for Chantel. One major red flag earlier occurred when Chantel failed her nursing exam. Instead of supporting her, he dismissed her pain and worried about her earning potential. Pedro is a selfish user and never truly cared about Chantel.
Pedro Cared More About His Real Estate Career Than Chantel
He Always Prioritized His Job
Pedro threw away his marriage for his career in real estate. While he may be passionate about the housing field, it's more likely he's fixated on money and never really loved Chantel. He saw the opportunity to come to the United States and build a happy, prosperous life, and got out of the relationship as soon as he could.
Once he started working in real estate, Pedro appeared more distant from Chantel, spending long hours at work and less time at home, which Chantel often commented on. According to Chantel, Pedro became emotionally unavailable during this time. Chantel accused him of abandoning their relationship, and their communication issues only escalated as Pedro's career took off.
In several episodes, Chantel tried to have serious conversations about their marriage, but Pedro would deflect or avoid engaging in meaningful discussions. However, another layer to Pedro’s prioritization of his career was the emotional distance between him and Chantel, exacerbated by his suspicious friendship with Antonella. Regardless of whether Pedro cheated, he was more invested in his work friendships than marriage with Chantel.
While Pedro denied the cheating allegations, his emotional detachment from Chantel during this period made it clear that he only cared about making money. It's possible that Pedro once loved Chantel, but I don't buy it. As evidenced in The Family Chantel, Pedro used Chantel to get to the United States and threw her away when he didn't need her anymore.
The Family Chantel is available for streaming on Discovery Plus.
