Which Characters Are Missing From Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (& Why)

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has revealed its full roster, and it's fittingly impressive for the fourth game in the fan-favorite Budokai Tenkaichi arena fighter series. The incredibly large roster includes 182 heroes and villains from across the entire Dragon Ball universe, even non-canon media. Alongside 19 different versions of Goku will be Cell (first form, second form, and perfect form), nine versions of Gohan, 11 versions of Vegeta, and Krillin, to name just a few.

While the full list of characters for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is huge, it is missing some characters that are simply too iconic to not include in the franchise’s next major game. Any missing characters still have a chance to appear in the game, as multiple DLC packs have already been confirmed for release in the coming months. Players won't need to be anxious for any new characters to come out, since unlocking the entire Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero roster may take some time.

The six characters that are missing from Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero have origins from all over the series (via Game Rant), but are all important enough or popular enough that they’re certainly not being overlooked. Some of these characters have been major parts of important arcs throughout the Dragon Ball series, while others are versions of characters that have only appeared in other video games.

Character Pikkon King Piccolo Android 8 Nuova and Eis Shenron Super Saiyan Bardock Super 17 Arc Introduced or First Appearance Great Saiyaman arc (Dragon Ball Z) King Piccolo Saga (Dragon Ball) Red Ribbon Army Saga (Dragon Ball) Shadow Dragon Saga (Dragon Ball GT) FighterZ and Xenoverse 2 Super 17 Saga (Dragon Ball GT)

While some versions of these characters are already part of the roster, like Piccolo and Bardock, there are fan favorite versions of them that would certainly add to the admittedly huge selection of characters.

Sparking! Zero Has Even More Characters For Players To Enjoy

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has only just come out, but it already has at least three DLC confirmed for release through 2025. These packs will include content from 2022’s Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and 2024’s Dragon Ball DAIMA. It’s likely that any missing characters from the initial roster are simply being saved for release in a future DLC pack. So far, there are no confirmed release dates for each DLC pack. Instead, the release window for the first and second DLC is set for Q1 of 2025 while the third DLC is set for Q2 of 2025.

There is no confirmation of which characters will be included in each pack, though some leaks have hinted at what they include. It is likely that Child Goku and Child Vegeta will be in the Dragon Ball DAIMA DLC while Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 will be in the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero DLC. According to the Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Steam page, all three of the DLC packs will add 20-plus new characters for fans to look forward to.
