Peanuts' 75th Anniversary Merch Includes a Snoopy Backpack That's Beyond Adorable

Charles Schulz's legendary Peanuts comic will celebrate its 75th anniversary next October, and there’s no better representative of the franchise than Charlie Brown’s iconic dog, Snoopy. In honor of this milestone — and the world’s most famous beagle — exclusive Snoopy-themed merchandise will be released next month, including what might be the coolest Snoopy-inspired bag yet.

As reported by CBR.com, the Peanuts franchise has teamed up with Loungefly, the popular fashion brand known for its stunning work with accessories like bags and wallets, to collaborate on several fashion items, including the immediately iconic, exclusive, limited-edition Snoopy Sequin Cosplay Mini Backpack.

The backpack isn't the only item in the merch drop. Other items in the collection include Peanuts-inspired tote bags, cardholders, and—unsurprisingly—a few dog-related items, such as a leash, collar, and harness that even Snoopy would love to wear. The collection items will be available for purchase beginning in November 2024.

Available For Pre-Order Now

It is only natural for the Peanuts 75th anniversary celebration to have a special item dedicated to Snoopy — the impertinent, but lovable pet who headlined many of the strip’s most memorable moments. A backpack is the perfect accessory choice for allowing fans to bring Snoopy with them wherever they go. With his face prominently displayed on the back and shimmering sequins giving it a dazzling yet soft appearance, it’s unmistakably a tribute to the beloved Peanuts beagle — there’s little chance anyone would confuse this bag for anything else.

While Charlie Brown is the story's protagonist, Snoopy's iconic appearance, lovable personality, antics, and —most importantly— ability to connect with fans of all ages make him the most recognizable Peanuts' character by far. The Peanuts franchise wouldn't be what it is today without Snoopy's enduring presence. Moreover, Snoopy's capacity to expand the Peanuts' universe beyond its simple setting through his vivid imagination, dreams, and writing made him the face of the franchise, and a character worthy of special attention for the strip's 75th anniversary.

Snoopy Is The Most Appropriate Character To Represent The Peanuts' Diamond Anniversary

The Beloved Beagle Defines Peanuts' Legacy

When Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip first debuted in 1950, Snoopy was the first member of the Peanuts gang to appear alongside Charlie Brown. In those early days, however, he was a minor character, portrayed in a more traditional role as Charlie Brown’s cute but mischievous pet dog. Over the years, Snoopy's role evolved from a ball-chasing pet who ran on all fours to an erudite beagle who walked on two legs, read Tolstoy's War and Peace, and developed a taste for fine root beer.

Related Snoopy's "Tennis Pro" Alter Ego From Peanuts, Explained (Did He Make It To Wimbledon?) Snoopy is arguably Peanuts' most iconic character, and that has a lot to do with his hilarious alter egos, including his World Famous Tennis Player.

As Snoopy’s role grew, so did his impact and influence on the strip. Unlike other characters, Schulz used Snoopy to explore, experiment, and delve into a much wider range of topics and subjects than would seem relevant to Charlie Brown and the other kids. Much of this was likely due to the way Schulz crafted Snoopy's imagination and dreams, allowing him to visit "alternate realities" outside Peanuts' own, but refracted through his own Snoopy perspective, a perspective that playfully blended childlike and adult elements.
