How To Build Your Own Vault In Fallout 4

How To Build Your Own Vault In Fallout 4

If you are looking to build and customize your own vault in Fallout 4, you can do that, provided you have access to one of the game's DLCs. You will need the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC, which can be bought separately and is included in Fallout 4: Game Of The Year Edition. Once you have access to the DLC, you can find Vault 88, which can become your personal vault that you can customize.

Fallout 4 already has a comprehensive build mechanic that lets players place objects and weapons and even make custom cities in the open world. Naturally, some players would also like to customize a vault, which can only be done once you find a distress signal near Quincy Quarries in your Pip-Boy's radio. This will lead you to the sole survivor of Vault 88.

How To Unlock & Start Building Vault 88 In Fallout 4

Customize Vault 88 To Your Liking

Once you are inside Vault 88, by entering a dug-out hole in the wall, you will notice it is unfinished and needs a bit of work. Before you can start renovating this vault, you will need to help overseer-turned-ghoul Valery Barstow. They will ask you to complete a series of quests and clear the vault of enemies. Clearing this questline will get you access to Vault 88.

To clear Vault 88, you should be Level 20 or above, as you will encounter many tough enemies inside.

Since the vault contains Ghouls, Molerats, Mirelurks, a Mirelurk Queen, and Radscorpions, you should equip your best armor and carry powerful weapons so that you can clear the vault without any complications. Once the Oversee's questline is complete, you can spruce up the vault and add new Vault-Tec Workshop DLC items such as bridges, hallways, atriums, a gym, and furniture, amongst many other items to build your custom vault.

You will also receive a Legendary Vault Suit for completing Overseer Valery Barstow's Questline. When equipped, the suit will give you a 15% damage reduction against Ghouls.

If you are unsure about how to build your vault, you can also look at Fiddleflaps Vids' video on YouTube for some inspiration. They only used vanilla and DLC objects so you should be able to replicate it in your game. Alternatively, you can also use some mods for Fallout 4 to enhance your building experience even further.
