Casting a shadow on their human companions, these big beasts will inspire a shrinking feeling in most people.

Incredible photographs compiled by Bored Panda, which were taken by people across the world, show the incredible true size of some terrifyingly large animals.

The pictures include an enormous moose walking through a car park, three Clydesdale horses dwarfing a man and a hippopotamus towering over a small boy.

A giant wombat and a Colombian tooth fish are also among the animals on display in the stunning images.
