BBC presenter who sipped hot drink during visit to the hair salon is BLASTED by social media users

But any relief the BBC news presenter may have felt could not be seen behind her sensible mask.

Miss Raworth, 52, posted a photo on social media yesterday after an appointment at Richard Ward’s salon in Sloane Square, central London, where a cleanse, condition, cut and finish can cost up to £225.

Behind her was an employee wearing personal protective equipment including a face visor and surgical-style mask.

But online commenters got into a froth over what appeared to be Miss Raworth’s cup of coffee.

One follower tweeted: ‘I thought consuming drinks was not allowed unless it’s water in disposable cups or bottles?’

Government guidance to hair salons said restrictions on food and drink would ‘usually be needed’, following Saturday’s reopenings.

It specified: ‘Not allowing food or drink to be consumed in the salon by clients other than water in disposable cups or bottles.’

But it is understood the guidance is open to interpretation and there is no suggestion that Miss Raworth or the salon has broken any law.

A spokesman for Richard Ward salons said: ‘We have a fully licensed bar with a dedicated barista.’
