Young Britons heading to Ibiza are offered a 'menu of drugs' on UK-based WhatsApp groups

Young Brits heading for Ibiza this summer are being offered a menu of take-away drugs, including laughing gas, cocaine and magic mushrooms, via groups on WhatsApp.

They are also being alerted to illegal raves planned on the island to 'bridge the gap' left by the big superclubs which have been told they can't open by the Balearic government. And although smaller venues are now operating, dancing is banneunder the coronavirus safety regulations.

The drugs ordering service directly aimed at Brits has been uncovered by island newspaper Diario de Ibiza which says marijuana, cocaine and ketamine, as well as other drugs, are available on the 'menu'.

Young Brits planning summer holidays in Ibiza have been found to be part of WhatsApp groups run by drug dealers looking to sell a variety of drugs on the Spanish island - including marijuana, mushrooms, cocaine, katamine and laughing gas. At least two WhatsApp groups have been discovered which put customers in touch with sellers, mostly in the party resort of San Antonio.

Diario de Ibiza says the posts are UK-based but with a Spanish phone number.

'Its users, more than 400 at the moment, include seasonal workers who are already on the island and residents throughout the year, but there are also plenty of those who are still in the United Kingdom and who express their intention to come to Ibiza to throughout the summer,' says the newspaper.

One of these two groups focuses exclusively on the sale of all kinds of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, while the other, in addition to offering the same catalogue for these products, offers other substances and information on parties or pirate taxis.

At least two UK-based WhatsApp groups targeting young Brits reportedly have more than 400 members. In the groups, sellers periodically publish the list and photographs of the drugs they have available on the encrypted messaging app (stock photo pictured above)

The groups say Ibiza is 'a safe place to ask about anything, including certain substances.' In their rules, they also specify that if users write about 'something illegal,' they should delete it within twelve hours.

Sellers periodically publish the list and photographs of the drugs they have available, announcing on several occasions that they have a reduced price only for that day. The most extensive catalogue of marijuana includes a total of 32 varieties. They are being offered at prices which vary from £4.50 to £12.

There are also special offers on magic mushrooms but laughing gas is said to be the most sought-after product.

Ibiza has already signalled its intention to clampdown on illegal raves this summer, saying they are a real threat to the health and safety of the island as party-goers are not wearing masks and do not social distance. There have already been several raids amid fears that they will cause another outbreak of coronavirus.
