Primarily Sold As A Digital Game

Close

The Last Guy is a unique game where players must guide civilians to safety through monster-infested cities, from an overhead viewpoint. Looking at mobs of humans and carefully trying to lead them can be a challenge, but finding a physical copy of the game might be an even bigger one. The game was primarily sold as a digital download on the PlayStation Store, with very few physical copies ever being released.

The PriceCharting website lists that a new copy of The Last Guy for the PS3 is valued at $275. Interestingly, the Complete in Box copies have sold for $300, likely due to the lack of new copies being available.

Rock Band Special Edition (2007)

Many Were Introduced To The Series With This Game

Collector's Edition With Prequel Novella Was Released With Limited Quantities

Close

Finding a copy of Drakengard 3 is not too difficult, and they are available from many retailers. Finding a Collector's Edition of Drakengard 3 is a very different story, however. The narrative-rich game is even more immersive in this format, as the Collector's Edition comes with a 160-page prequel novella, as well as many other physical rewards and in-game DLC. It was only released in limited quantities, though, which is why PriceCharting lists the game as having a price of $397 when new and $280 for a Complete in Box version.

Band Hero Super Bundle (2009)

Full Bundle With Instruments

Close

Band Hero was a spin-off title from the popular Guitar Hero series and plays very similarly to its predecessors. It received some mixed reviews, partly due to it having much less content than the Guitar Hero games but at the same price, and felt geared for a younger audience. The spin-off didn't really hit the right notes with consumers, and now the game is difficult to find at a reasonable price.

According to PriceCharting, a new copy of the full Band Hero Super Bundle, which includes the instruments as well as the game, is valued at $419, at the time of writing, while a Complete in the Box version of the game costs $240.

Demon's Souls - Deluxe Edition (2009)

Limited Quantities Of The Deluxe Edition Were Released

Close

The predecessor to the Dark Souls series, Demon's Souls is a game known for its difficult bosses and mysterious atmosphere. It began life as a niche RPG on the PlayStation 3, but after a major increase in developer FromSoftware's popularity and a remake of the title on PlayStation 5, the original variant of the game can be much pricier than the average used PS3 title.

The Deluxe Edition, which originally came with a 150-page strategy guide, often goes for hundreds of dollars. PriceCharting shows that a Complete in Box version of the Deluxe Edition of Demon's Souls for the PS3 will sell for $111, while a new version can be valued at $504.

The bundle comes with the instruments needed to rock out with the game, as well as the disc for the game. While the Rock Band games, and games like them, forever hold a place in gaming history, they are not as widely found as they once were, and the demand is continuing to rise for the few copies available on the market.

At the time of writing, according to PriceCharting, the Rock Band 2 Bundle for PS3 can sell for $578 if new. A Complete in Box version is valued at $300, and multiple copies are still sold each year.

The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition (2009)

Having The Beatles License Makes This Even More Expensive

Close

Adding the licensing of one of the most iconic bands to ever hit the stage makes this game even more pricey. The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition on the PS3 was already priced higher than the normal game at the time of its release, but has since become one of the most expensive PS3 games, particularly as it is becoming more difficult to find and Beatles collectors are also coveting the game.

According to PriceCharting, a new copy of the game can sell for $594, while a Complete in Box game is priced at $296.

Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories (2008)

English Translation Was Only Released In Asian Markets

Close

Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories is an interesting case, as the game was released exclusively on the PS3, and despite an English-translated version of the game being launched, it was seemingly only available in Korea. The beautiful underwater game may not have been earth-shattering in its story or gameplay, and the translation itself is known to be flawed, yet copies of the game can be highly collectible now. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle - Exquisite Edition (2014)

Limited Edition Exclusive Version With Statue

Close

A fighting game based on the famously strange shōnen anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, 2014's All-Star Battle was released very late in the life cycle of the PlayStation 3. Reminiscent of some of the games in the King of Fighters or Soul Caliber series, it should satisfy the interests of fans of the anime franchise. However, as it boasts only niche appeal in Western territories, it was never destined for major success, and it is now a rare standalone title on the PlayStation 3, even in its standard version.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle - Exquisite Edition is a special, limited edition version of the game that was sold with an accompanying statue. This edition is valued at $2,088 when new and $1,392 when sold Complete in Box according to PriceCharting, at the time of writing.

NBA Elite 11 (2010)

Canceled Before Release

Close

Without a doubt, one of the rarest seventh-generation titles in existence, NBA Elite 11, is rare because it should never have even been made available to the public. The game was canceled by its publisher shortly before it was scheduled to be released due to quality issues. Some copies of the game had already been sent to retailers, however, and even managed to land in the hands of some lucky consumers.

The priciest PlayStation 3 game by far, according to PriceCharting, new copies of NBA Elite 11 have sold for $5,480. The Complete in Box value of the game is also high, generally being priced at $3,458, although in 2022, a copy was sold for $17,500. NBA Elite 11 is so rare that a sale of a loose copy has not been recorded in over a year.
