How To Get Sizzle Protection In Grounded

In Grounded, Sizzle Protection is a resistance stat that shields adventurers against Sizzle, a harmful status effect that gradually fills a Sizzling meter on the UI while producing a sound similar to when something is burning on a frying pan. Once the Sizzling gauge reaches its max, red heat waves will appear at the bottom of the HUD, and the affected individual will see their HP quickly drain away. Eventually, Sizzling players will meet their end if this status effect is left untreated.

Finding Sizzle Protection is necessary because Fiber Bandages to restore health in Grounded are insufficient to stop this draining effect. The Sizzle effect is primarily encountered in the Sandbox, a biome in the bottom-left corner of the map. The Sandbox is also an excellent location to find Buried Treasure, resource nodes containing various valuable goodies. However, to safely explore this scorching biome, players must have some form of Sizzle Protection.

Getting Sizzle Protection In Grounded

Armor Protection

There are several ways to get Sizzle Protection in Grounded. The most straightforward method is unlocking and crafting the Antlion Armor Set, a collection of armor pieces that resist Sizzle and Thirst Drain reduction. Based on gameplay by WoW Quests, players can unlock this set by hunting dangerous Antlions found in the cool tunnels beneath the Sandbox's surface in Grounded. Analyze the insect's parts at a Field Station to learn the recipes for Antlion Armor, shown in the table below.

Armor Recipe Antlion Wide Brim Antlion Part (x5)

Silk Rope (x3)

Boiling Gland (x1) Antlion Poncho Antlion Port (x3)

Antlion Pincer (x2)

Silk Rope (x2) Antlion Spurs Antlion Part (x6)

Antlion Pincer (x1)

Bee Fuzz (x3)

If you have all three pieces of gear equipped, you will get a bonus called "Quickdraw," which will give you a faster reload speed in combat.

Other Ways To Prevent Sizzling In Grounded

Trinkets, Meals, and Mutations For Prevention

For those who do not want to defeat Antlions in Grounded to earn Sizzle Protection, the Insulating Larva Spike is a trinket that can also provide some protection specifically around the Sandbox, BBQ Spill area, and against any Sizzle damage coming from Ladybird Larvae when they attack.

This Trinket has a slight chance of dropping from wandering Ladybird Larvae, insects found in the Shed Surroundings and around the BBQ Grill. It is also a guaranteed drop from the Ladybird Larvae, specifically in Ladybird Burrow.

Suppose players are on their New Game+ run of Grounded. In that case, they can also obtain the Quesadillantlion, a Tier 3 Meal that can apply several effects after being eaten, including sizzle protection and a retaliating Thorns buff. To earn it, players will have to give BURG. L the Black Anthill BURG.L Chip, after which they can purchase the recipe for this meal from him.

Lastly, you can protect against Sizzling by gaining the Fresh Defense Mutation, which increases resistance to gas and burning damage by a set percentage. Mutations are unlocked by completing certain tasks in Grounded, and once unlocked, they can be equipped into 1 of up to 5 slots. Players can also create Mutation Loadouts to swap between different Mutations for different situations. To unlock all three Phases, consult the table below:

Fresh Defense Phases Resistance/Reduction Unlock By 1 25%/25% Eat 1 Mint Shard 2 50%/50% Eat 5 Mint Shards 3 50%/75% Eat 10 Mint Shards

Eating Mint Shards in Grounded will unlock the first phase of the Mutation and earn a Resistance to Gas/Burning and a Sizzle Reduction Rate as well. This is good for protection in high heat or fiery areas. However, fans should carefully consider such consumption since Mint Shards are rare resources.

They can be taken from Fresh Mints with an Insect Hammer or Black Ox Hammer and take a full in-game day to respawn. However, Fresh Mints found in certain areas, like Mint Containers, the Black Anthill Lab, and the Sandbox Lab Outpost, will not respawn.

Furthermore, these shards are required to craft Fresh Storage, similar to refrigerators in the game, but it may still be well worth the perk. This depends on how much time you spend in the Sandbox and BBQ areas, which will determine how often you need Sizzle Protection in Grounded.
