Bloons TD Battles 2: Best Loadouts (& How To Play Them)

Bloons TD Battles 2: Best Loadouts (& How To Play Them)

There are a few factors to consider when making a loadout in Bloons TD Battles 2, including small things like upgrades. The first is Bloon-hitting capabilities; players will find it difficult to win if their loadout is completely incapable of popping certain types of Bloons, such as camo-lead Bloons. The second is appropriate level scaling; if a loadout has a weak early or mid-game, a rush from the opponent can end the game before the loadout's strengths can be used, and a weak late game means the loadout will fall off if early aggression fails.

The third is the ability to generate income; efficient early-game towers are needed so that surplus cash can go to income, and ideally, towers that generate cash directly can be used to both defend and accelerate income. The last factor is grouped and spaced defense; some towers are great at handling single versions of strong Bloons but fail against groups, and some deal great grouped damage but are weak against single targets, so loadouts should be able to handle both at all stages of the game if possible.

11 Hero: Gwendolin Towers: Ninja Monkey, Sniper Monkey, Dartling Gunner

Increase MOAB defenses with these heavy hitters.

This loadout got significantly nerfed in the latest patch but is still plenty strong when played well. The Dartling Gunner can handle every wave and send in the very early rounds, allowing the player to get an income lead while eventually upgrading to Hydra Rockets. The Sniper Monkey acts as blimp defense with Maim MOAB, and generates a ton of cash while dealing with Bloons using Supply Drop.

Ninja Monkeys let the defense scale with Shinobi Spam and Sticky Bombs. A new player might find that their defense tends to be weak against an early MOAB or grouped ceramic send, but careful play with Snipers to complement the Dartling can handle those on most maps. Any hero works well with this strategy, but something to cover that weakness is ideal; Gwendolin tends to be best due to her panic button actives.

10 Hero: Gwendolin Towers: Tack Shooter, Alchemist, Monkey Village

Buff up your Tact Shooters with this build.

This loadout is slightly map-dependent but is never weak in Bloons TD Battles 2. The idea is that Tack Zone becomes insanely strong with buffs, and both Monkey Village and Alchemist provide those buffs. Tack Shooters also handle all early waves with very few issues, allowing for an income lead to be generated.

Suppose you want to switch it up and are facing more Frozen enemies. In that case, Gwendolin has a hero-alt called Scientist Gwendolin, who offers a slightly different playstyle with chemical powers and science upgrades.

Sometimes players will opt to swap the Alchemist for another tower that buffs the Tack Shooter such as Ice Monkeys, but these have pros and cons. Gwendolin is the best hero to use with this loadout, as she passively buffs towers with Heat It Up, and has a panic button to deal with rushes that the player might be unprepared for.

9 Hero: Quincy Towers: Boomerang Monkey, Ice Monkey, Monkey Sub

A strong composition from start to finish.

This loadout is all about covering each other in Bloons TD Battles 2: Boomerangs handle Bloon rushes at all stages of the game as well as smaller blimp rushes, Ice Monkeys handle blimps in the late game and amplify the damage dealt by the other towers with Embrittlement and Super Brittle, and Monkey Subs deal early game damage, uncover camo Bloons, and deal with BADs.

Quincy tops off this loadout by ensuring the early game is strong enough to get an income lead. Players should start with Quincy and either an Ice Monkey or Sub to defend against opponent sends. From that point, players can work on getting a M.O.A.R Glaives tower to handle rushes, as well as a camo-detection Sub. The late game will be handled by Icicle Impale and First Strike Capability.

Take control of the land and water.

Obyn massively buffs Druids, and Alchemists are also perfect for Druids due to their slower fire rate and multiple projectiles. The weakness of these 3 towers revolves around early dense Bloon rushes and camo Bloons, but the Monkey Sub covers both of those with Bloontonium Reactor. Players should try and strategically leak about 100 lives early in Bloons TD Battles 2 while laying down as many 0/0/2 Druids as possible.

These Druids get stronger when lives are lost and that strength boost is permanent. After the lives are lost, players should focus heavily on their income and lay down a Monkey Sub to handle camos and smaller rushes. The early game is the weakest point for this loadout; if it is survived, Alchemist buffs on bottom-path Druids will cover blimps and most Bloons, and middle or top-path Druids are great for cleaning up.

7 Hero: Quincy Towers: Monkey Buccaneer, Alchemist, Spike Factory

Enhance your short and close range.

Close

This is a basic loadout, but it covers a lot of bases. The Monkey Buccaneer plus Quincy hold enough firepower to lock down most medium-sized maps for the early game. The boats have a solid fire spread, able to take out any close-range bloons, while Quincy can handle longer-range targets. The Alchemist is here solely for buff purposes, as his Lead to Gold and Rubber to Gold will both boost your economy massively in the later game. The Spike Factory is great for taking shielded Bloons and giving the two damage dealers time to work.

By mid-game, the Alchemist's two big buffs should be active, while the Monkey Buccaneer should start to see upgrades as well. Much of the late game depends on the Alchemist to farm up enough gold to afford the bigger defenses, such as Pirate Micro, Spike Storm, and eventually Super Mines. With all three of these active, even MOAB class bloons shouldn't be able to penetrate your defenses. Again, this loadout is better suited for longer-ranged maps, as the shorter maps all these rather sparse defenses can be easily overwhelmed.

6 Hero: Agent Jericho Towers: Monkey Ace, Banana Farm, Engineer Monkey

An aerial knockout punch.

This loadout is perfect for the Dino Graveyard and similarly shaped maps, as the loadout itself tends to lack defenses. The Ace and Engineer combination is what really makes this loadout work, as both are very high damage options throughout the entire match. The Monkey Ace is an incredible early-game damage dealer while the Engineer and Jericho get started. By the mid-game, the Engineer should have Sentry Expert up to help supplement the Ace’s damage output. Cleansing Foam and Ground Zero are two particularly useful upgrades for these two monkeys to take on the much harder camo bloons.

The Banana Farm is the crux of your economy with this build, and you need to boost it up as soon as possible so you can start earning money fast in Bloons TD Battles 2. Obtaining the Monkey Wall Street upgrade for your farm will help you max out your economy’s potential as you get into the later game and help you afford very late-game upgrades, such as Flying Fortress for Ace. This strategy certainly doesn’t work on all maps, but as a one-two punch, the Ace and Engineer pair quite nicely together.

5 Hero: Ezili Towers: Dartling Gunner, Banana Farm, Ice Monkey

Set up your machine gunner with this supportive build.

To start off this loadout correctly, you need to prioritize the Farm to boost your economy while Ezili and the Dartling Gunner hold off early rounds. Thankfully, you don’t need to wait too long before supplementing your defenses, as the Ice Monkey is a fairly cheap mid-round character. The Dartling Gunner is your central source of damage, so getting his Powerful Darts upgrade is essential to outlasting your opponent, with Hydra Rocket Pods being preferable in the later game.

The synergy between Dartling Gunner and Ice Monkey is pretty simple: ice abilities freeze and slow bloons while the Dartling Gunner dishes out damage. Unlike the majority of Quincy builds, the hero here, Ezili, is mostly around for support. Ezili provides very valuable buffs, particularly with her Heartstopper ability. This reduces the danger of regrow bloons while Sacrificial Totem is an incredible tool for boosting the Dartling Gunner’s damage. With a fully upgraded Dartling Gunner and enough Ice Monkeys to slow the way, you can easily take on BFBs and ZOMGs.

4 Hero: Pat Fusty Towers: Ninja Monkey, Alchemist, Heli Pilot

Embrace air superiority.

This loadout revolves around the buffs provided by Pat Fusty and the Alchemist. Fusty’s Rallying Row and Brew are an incredible source of DPS that can also empower the circling helicopter to deal even more damage. Without the Banana Farm, your Alchemist is the main source for your economy. Similar to other builds, Lead to Gold and Rubber to Gold will fund the much more expensive upgrades in the later game. Early-game Bloon rushes are rather difficult to take on with this build, so make sure to add your Ninja monkey early.

If you want to use the alt-version of Fusty called Fusty The Snowman, switch out your Ninja Monkey for an Ice Monkey to take advantage of the buffs that they give each other.

Your Ninja is a crucial source of damage throughout the entire game. You have the choice between either Shinobi or Jitsu option for the mid-to-late game, as either will vastly increase this unit’s damage and help keep up with the harder late rounds. For the Helicopter pilot, Razor Rotors is best to carry this unit throughout the entire game.

3 Hero: Captain Churchill Towers: Monkey Ace, Banana Farm, Monkey Engineer

Early Game Defense And Overclocked Farms

This strategy relies on the Monkey Ace and Monkey Engineer working together for the entirety of the game. Meanwhile, the Banana Farms are there to keep your economy sufficiently boosted and can be overclocked if necessary. Captain Churchill provides an extra layer of defense, and keeps your heroes fully upgraded and ready to go. His upgraded abilities, Armor Piercing and MOAB Barrage, also produce explosive ammo to pop any kind of balloon and target up to 10 blimps.

You will also want to take advantage of Sentry Expert to protect against secondary rushes. Ground Zero can protect against large numbers of weaker Blimps, but you may still struggle against ZOMGs. Hopefully, your Banana Farms working overtime and getting some higher-tier farms can keep your economy boosted so that you can afford as many towers as you need to protect yourself in the late game. 2 Hero: Ezili Towers: Monkey Wizard, Tack Shooter, Monkey Buccaneer

Defense Over Income

There are some various builds that all focus on this concept of the Tack Shooter and Monkey Wizard combination. In this case, the Monkey Buccaneer takes the third slot to provide more defense in exchange for a slightly lower-income economy. This strategy will rely on the Tack Shooter very early-game and keep your health as high as possible to cover the Wizard's weaknesses. Likewise, Ezili is here to be able to counter purple Bloons, as that is one of the Wizard's few weaknesses.

Ezili can be swapped out for any hero in this loadout, as it does not require anything specific to be successful. However, Ezili does cover a weakness in the group, but it can be covered by others as well.

The Wizard's strength is its popping ability, as it can use abilities like Wall of Fire to defend against large groups of balloons. Monkey Buccaneers can provide some economy, and it favors maps that need a bit of range. This loadout may struggle against Fortified BADs and grouped purples, but it is worth trying it out to see if it suits your playstyle.

1 Hero: Etienne Towers: Tack Shooter, Banana Farm, and Alchemist

Permabrew Combos

The newest hero in Bloons TD Battle 2 is Etienne, who utilizes the powers of drones to pop Bloons. For this early build, YouTuber Ryan Mehalic shows off a lot of gameplay in this video. The drones alone with the Tack Shooter allow you to have a fairly strong early-game, although you may leak a little life at the very beginning as the Tack Shooters do not manage to pop every Bloon.

The Banana Farm will be your main source of economy and you can upgrade the Tack Shooter to Ring of Fire to protect against groups. Drone Storm can also handle a lot of rush, but you are always hoping to have a stronger economy than your opponent. The Alchemist is there for the Permabrew effect, which can provide strong defense and attack against larger attacking units. This can make your late-game very strong in Bloons TD Battle 2.
