Josh Brolin leads the cast of Outer Range, which sees established actors and up-and-coming stars in a sci-fi series about generational family drama. The Amazon Prime Video show tells the story of Royal Abbott, who initially appears to be a simple man trying to protect his family and property. However, when a mysterious woman named Autumn appears on their doorstep, the truth about Royal begins to be unveiled. Outer Range season 1’s ending left a lot of questions without answers, many of which are revisited in season 2.

Most Outer Range season 1 characters return in season 2, which picks up right where the previous season had left off. Now that Royal has figured out who Autumn is, and Amy has disappeared, Prime Video’s perfect Yellowstone replacement sees the family dynamic at the ranch become even more complicated. Outer Range season 2’s cast also includes younger versions of some of the show’s main characters, who come into play due to time travel.

Following a period of less successful roles, Brolin’s career experienced a resurgence in 2007 with his role as Llewelyn Moss in the Best Picture-winner No Country for Old Men. A year later, Brolin would receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dan White in Milk. More recently, Brolin starred as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as well as in films such as Sicario, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, and Dune.

He has a deep connection to the mysterious Hole, although he still does not fully comprehend how it works or why it does what it does.

Character: Autumn was a mystery box in Outer Range season 1. Introduced as someone who was passing by the town, Autumn was revealed to be as connected to the Hole as Royal. She seemed to have the answers Royal was looking for, but she also had lots of secrets. Confirming the show’s most popular theory, Autumn was revealed to be Amy at the end of season 1. Outer Range season 2 sees Autumn trying to make sense of her identity as she becomes even more connected to the Abbotts, who decide to take her in.

Since then, she has been in multiple films and TV shows, including plenty of independent movies. Character: The matriarch of the Abbott family, Cecil Abbott is a very religious woman who wants her family to be together. However, by the end of season 1, Cecil had lost all hope that they could make it work after so many tragedies. Outer Range season 2 sees her looking for answers, particularly from Royal, as they search for Amy. After spending most of season 1 in the dark, Cecilia begins to understand the connection between Royal and Autumn in Outer Range season 2.

Pelphrey was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Ben Davis in Ozark.

Character: Perry is Royal and Cecilia’s oldest son. He is also Amy’s father and has been looking for his missing wife, Rebecca, since the beginning of the show. Outer Range season 1 ended with Perry jumping through the Hole after learning about his father’s secret. He hoped the Hole would take him to Rebecca, whom he believed also used it. Outer Range season 2 puts Perry out of his time as he learns more about the history of his family by coming in contact with his parents before they were even married.

Character: Joy Hawk is the town’s Deputy Sheriff. In season 1, she trained to gain political capital ahead of the election for the Sheriff's job by helping investigate the death of one of Wayne Tillerson’s sons. Outer Range season 1’s ending saw Joy walking through a forest and somehow ending up in 1886, even though she did not actually come in contact with the Hole. Outer Range season 2 confirms Joy did travel through time, with the character now having to find a way to return home to her wife and daughter.

Outer Range Supporting Cast & Characters

Lewis Pullman as Rhett Abbott: The Abbott’s youngest son. Rhett dreamed of becoming a championship bull rider, and while he had a lot of potential, the events of season 1 made him reconsider his priorities. Outer Range season 1 ended with Rhett deciding to leave everything behind and hit the road with Maria to start a new life, which they almost did. However, after learning of Amy’s disappearance in season 2, Rhett realizes he can’t run away. Pullman is most known for Top Gun: Maverick and Lessons in Chemistry and will play Sentry in Marvel’s Thunderbolts*.

Noah Reid as Billy Tillerson: The youngest of the Tillerson boys. Billy has a passion for music and deeply respects his father, which often puts him on a collision course against his older brother, Luke. Another source of contempt between them is Autumn, whom Billy is in love with. Although it seemed like Billy had died in Outer Range season 1, season 2 reveals he survived being shot by Royal. Noah Reid, who is also a musician, is known for his roles in Franklin and Schitt's Creek.

Shaun Sipos as Luke Tillerson: Wayne Tillerson’s oldest remaining son. Luke is closer to his mother than to his father and does not trust the latter. He also believes Billy is his father’s favorite and fears his brother will inherit everything. Luke had an almost religious experience at the end of season 1 after discovering the Hole, which sets the narrative for his story in Outer Range season 2. Sipos is most known for Krypton and Reacher season 2.

Olive Elise Abercrombie as Amy Abbott: Perry and Rebecca’s daughter. Although Perry and his parents tried to protect Amy from their problems during season 1, the family’s ghosts caught up with the girl in season 2. Amy was taken by her mother at the end of season 1, leaving Cecilie, who knew the truth about Rebecca’s disappearance, desperate. Outer Range season 2 sees Amy reconnecting with her mother and becoming closer to Autumn. Before Outer Range, Abercrombie was known for The Haunting of Hill House.

Monette Moio as Rebecca Abbott: Perry’s wife, who has been missing since season 1. Outer Range season 2 explores where Rebecca has been this whole time. Moio, who replaces Kristen Connolly as Rebecca in Outer Range, is most known for The Real Bros of Simi Valley.

Will Patton as Wayne Tillerson: The patriarch of the Tillerson family. Wayne Tillerson has a personal vendetta against Royal, a relationship that season 2 reveals to be much more complicated than originally seemed. Patton is most known for Falling Skies and No Way Out.

Deirdre O'Connell as Patricia Tillerson: The matriarch of the Tillerson family. She has been divorced from her husband but remains close to the family business, particularly through Luke. O’Connell is most known for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Secondhand Lions.

Isabel Arraiza as Maria Olivares: Rhett’s girlfriend. Maria supported Rhett during season 1 and offered to start a new life by his side. While they almost got out of the city, Amy’s disappearance brought them back. Arraiza is most known for Pearson and The Little Things.

Morningstar Angeline as Martha Hawk: Joy’s wife. Martha is used to her wife being in danger, but things take a dark turn once Joy disappears at the end of season 1. Angeline is most known for Westworld and Marvel’s Echo.

Yrsa Daley-Ward as Dr. Nia Bintu: The scientist conducting tests to understand what the Hole is. Royal wants Dr. Nia Bintu to stay away from him and his ranch. Daley-Ward is most known for World on Fire and The Perfect Find.

Christian James as Young Royal: A younger version of Royal in his 20s. After Perry reveals himself to be his son from the future, Royal opens up about the secrets of the Hole and tries to help Perry search for Rebecca. Arbogast is most known for All Americans and Hell Fest. It will be interesting to see whether young Royal and Cecilia will show up in a potential Outer Range season 3.

Megan West as Young Cecilia Abbott: A younger version of Cecilia in her Outer Range. In this period, Cecilia was in a relationship with Wayne, not Royal. West is most known for This Is Us and How To Get Away With Murder.
