Tyler has a brother, Trevor Stanaland, and their father is John Stanaland, a luxury real estate seller who owns his own brokerage in Laguna Beach called John Stanaland Group. In 2012, Tyler was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease that affects the digestive tract. Tyler spent over 100 days in the hospital and ultimately had his colon removed, an experience he pays an annual homage to on Instagram.

While Tyler's family has sold luxury real estate properties around Southern California for five generations, Tyler initially pursued a career as a professional surfer. According to Tyler's stats with the World's Surf League, he made his debut in 2008; in 2015, Tyler competed in the Men's Qualifying Series, where he finished in 81st place. Based on Tyler's LinkedIn, it appears that the Selling The OC star decided to focus solely on real estate soon after.

Although he has become one of the Oppenheim Group's most recognizable faces, Tyler didn't join the brokerage until November 2021, which is when Selling The OC was first announced. However, in October 2023, Tyler announced in a People exclusive that he was leaving the Oppenheim Group and returning to his father's brokerage. Tyler admitted that leaving Selling The OC and the Oppenheim Group wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right decision for him and his clients.

He Loves Surfing & Real Estate

Tyler's Instagram page consists of his two loves: surfing and real estate. His most recent posts are from mid-late April, with one of the posts being a carousel of two images of Tyler surfing with the location tagged as Newport Beach, California. Tyler has other posts from this year and years past of him doing a lot of surfing in California and other places like Fiji. However, surfing isn't the only water sport Tyler enjoys. He's also shared several posts of him fishing. Tyler recently did some fishing in Dana Point Harbor while promoting the brand Catch Fish.

As for real estate, Tyler shared a listing he had in January. The home was in Laguna Beach and had a notable open-concept kitchen with gorgeous views of the ocean. Besides this listing, Tyler hasn't promoted his real estate listings very often on his Instagram page.

Although his career with the Oppenheim Group was a point of interest, Tyler is known as the ex-husband of actress Brittany Snow, who has starred in popular films like the Pitch Perfect trilogy. Tyler and Brittany, who first met in 2018, got married in 2020 and frequently shared snaps of married life with their dog Charlie in tow. Unfortunately, Tyler and Brittany separated in September 2022, shortly after Selling The OC premiered; the couple officially filed for divorce on January 19, 2023.

Tyler and Hall had been inseparable following Tyler's split from Brittany and even shared a kiss in a hot tub at the end of Selling The OC season 2. However, Selling The OC season 3 picks up after their kiss, which was a source of contention for the coworkers. Hall felt like Tyler left her high and dry after the kiss, seeing as he went straight to Australia and Fiji, basically ghosting her. The pair tried to make it work at the start of the season, but Hall and Tyler are clearly not a match.
