Bodies Season 2: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
Summary Bodies season 2 isn't being developed, as writer Paul Tomalin wants to provide closure to the story and not leave the audience hanging.
Although Bodies was intended to be a single-season miniseries, the show's popularity on Netflix may prompt a season 2 in the future.
If Bodies season 2 is renewed, it is uncertain which cast members will return, but Stephen Graham is likely to reprise his role. The potential storyline for season 2 is unknown, as it would deviate from the original DC Vertigo comics.
Bodies season 2 would be a change of plan for Paul Tomalin’s time-traveling British crime thriller miniseries, but the show has proved so popular on Netflix another chapter may become too demanded to ignore. The 2023 Netflix show Bodies is an adaptation of the DC Vertigo comics of the same name. The story focuses on four distinct timelines and has drawn both audience and critical acclaim thanks to its rollercoaster plot and outstanding performances from the cast, especially Boardwalk Empire star Stephen Graham.
While episode 8 of Bodies was intended to close the story, the show has done so well that many viewers are demanding to know if and when the Bodies season 2 release date will arrive on Netflix. While writer Paul Tomalin has been clear that there are no plans to continue the show, there are also early signs that another season of Bodies could be on the cards if demand is high enough — especially since the ending left things open enough to make Bodies season 2 possible from a narrative perspective.

Tomalin did acknowledge that the ending of the final episode did leave the door for season 2 open, even if it was just a crack
The most recent news about Bodies season 2 came on October 22, 2023. Bodies writer Paul Tomalin spoke to Hello! about the chances of another season of Bodies happening, and unfortunately for many Netflix subscribers hoping the Stephen Graham time travel drama would return, Tomalin was clear that the miniseries was going to be a one-and-done single season show.
“We went to Netflix like 'This is one series, this is a one and done, we wanna close this off' because I think when you have such an amazing concept up front, you [expletive] your audience off if you don't solve it," Tomalin explained during the interview when asked why Bodies season 2 isn’t happening, "as the viewer, I hate it when you get this amazing thing. And at the end it's like, 'Duh, duh, duh,' and you're like 'Right so I've got to wait a year and a half.”
While Tomalin’s comments are certainly disheartening for some Netflix subscribers wanting more of the intriguing universe the writer created, Bodies was always billed as a single-season miniseries. However, Tomalin did acknowledge that the ending of the final episode did leave the door for season 2 open, even if it was just a crack."I think it's a duty to an audience with something that's this propulsive as a story concept to end it and solve it,” Tomalin explained.
Bodies Isn’t Renewed For Season 2
Netflix Is Sticking To Their Miniseries Plan (For Now)
Bodies hasn’t been renewed for season 2 by Netflix. The show was always intended to be a single-season miniseries, with the story wrapped by the end of episode 8. Since it’s proved immensely popular on Netflix, however, it’s always possible this plan could change and an unexpected Bodies season 2 confirmation follows. On the other hand, with so much time passing since the show's conclusion, a renewal seems less and less likely.
Bodies season 1 debuted on Netflix on October 19, 2023.

Who Would Return For The Next Season Of Bodies?
Close
It’s unclear who would return for the cast of Bodies season 2. The time travel drama had a unique premise, following four timelines — 1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053 — each with their own ensemble casts. The only cast member almost guaranteed to return would be Stephen Graham (The Is England, Boardwalk Empire), as he’s been an integral part of the initial interest that helped Bodies become a success.
Until the show is renewed, however, it’s impossible to make any accurate predictions about the Bodies season 2 cast. The shows time-travel premise and multiple timelines mean any of the current cast could return, or they could just as easily not. It entirely depends on the storyline of the next season of Bodies, and since the first 8 episodes covered everything in the original DC Vertigo comics the source material provides no hints at possible season 2 cast members.
The presumptive cast of Bodies season 2 could include:
Actor Bodies Role Stephen Graham Elias Mannix Jacob Fortune-Lloyd DS Charles Whiteman Shira Haas DC Iris Maplewood Amaka Okafor DS Shahara Hasan Kyle Soller DI Alfred Hillinghead

What Could Happen If Bodies Returns?

The plot of Bodies season 2 is entirely unknown. The British time-travel crime thriller is based on the DC Vertigo graphic novel by Si Spencer, and the show has already covered everything that happens in the Bodies comic. This means there’s no obvious story direction for season 2 to follow, and writer Paul Tomalin would have to take the story in its own direction.
The ending of the Bodies did drop a few light hints at Bodies season 2. The KYAL acronym appearing on the side of a building certainly teases the world isn’t safe just yet, and Iris Maplewood appearing in the present and knowing Hasan’s real name hints that the time-traveling isn’t done with yet. In any case, unless Bodies season 2 is confirmed these glimpses into the rest of the story will remain unexplored.
