FX Executives Discuss Fargo Season 6

Though news regarding the potential season has been scant, the latest update sees FX link Fargo season 6's chances to the upcoming Alien TV show. Candidly discussing the future of the popular anthology series, FX Chairman John Landgraf made it clear that showrunner Noah Hawley is entrenched in the Alien series and that any future Fargo seasons will need to take a back seat for now. However, Landgraf also assured fans that Fargo is not intended to end with season 5.

[Alien] is big imaginative reimagining of that franchise. It was really fun to watch [Noah] take on the Alien franchise in the way I watched him take on Fargo, to try to figure out how to deconstruct where the magic of it comes from and what were the key ingredients and how he can deliver those ingredients in a different way without just repeating things that have been done before. It’s designed to be an ongoing series. Then as far as Fargo goes, it’s a matter of timing because I’m hoping Noah’s going to be working subsequent seasons of Alien and really try to turn that around fast. But my ears always perk up when he says he’s interested in approaching more Fargo and I think he did an incredible job this year with season five.

What Fargo Creator Noah Hawley Has Said About Season 6

There Are No Plans To Stop

Despite the fact that Fargo season 6 hasn't been confirmed yet, series creator Noah Hawley has been quite vocal about his love for the show that he has spearheaded since 2014. In a report from Deadline, Hawley spoke rather candidly about the possibility of Fargo season 6, and it is quite encouraging for those hoping to see the anthology series continue. "I haven’t run out of ways to tell these stories," Hawley said prophetically, "Why wouldn’t I keep going?"

Though Hawley is obviously excited about keeping the Fargo train running, that doesn't necessarily mean that FX will greenlight the show. The future of the series depends on the success of season 5, though Hawley also speculated about what he would like to do next with the hit anthology series. In the same report, Hawley mentioned that decades like the '60s, '80s, and '90s haven't been featured yet, and it is interesting to think about what sort of twisted crime tales Hawley and the rest of the crew could weave in Fargo season 6.
