What Happened To Varya Malina After Geoffrey’s Sentence
Summary Varya Malina plans to stay in the U.S. despite Geoffrey Paschel's 18-year prison sentence.
Varya won the green card lottery and has been living in Geoffrey's house since he went to prison.
Varya may be using Geoffrey for citizenship, but may give up on him eventually.
90 Day Fiancé alum Geoffrey Paschel was sentenced to 18 years in prison in February 2022, but this doesn't mean that his fiancée, Russian native Varya Malina, will leave the United States. After getting engaged to the Knoxville resident, Varya came to America to surprise Geoffrey. She didn't reveal much information about what kind of visa she received but told 90 Day Fiancé viewers that she was living in the country legally. It later came out that she won the green card lottery. Varya has been living in the U.S. ever since, even with Geoffrey behind bars.
The former radio presenter started living in Pensacola, Florida, and finally called America home in August 2021. Geoffrey is still reportedly married to his estranged fourth wife, Brittany Paschel, but 90 Day Fiancé's Varya Malina has never seemed to care about any of Geoffrey's shadiness. In 2021, the Russian native was looking forward to appearing on a 90 Day Fiancé spin-off with Geoffrey, but he was found guilty of assaulting his ex, Kristen Wilson. Geoffrey has also since lost an appeal on his conviction.

What Crimes Was Geoffrey Convicted Of?
The Timeline Of Geoffrey's Assault On His Ex Is Wild
Close
Geoffrey went to trial and was convicted of the June 2019 kidnapping and assault of his ex-fiance Kristen Wilson, whom he had proposed to in March 2019. Geoffrey hit Kristen in the head hard enough to leave a knot on her forehead, and he dragged her around his house and up his stairs. Geoffrey took Kristen's cell phone, hindering her from calling the police, which is why he was charged with aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and interference with an emergency call. Kristen only escaped to a neighbor's house for help once Geoffrey fell asleep.
In a very scary timeline of events, Geoffrey was arrested and let out on bail after the assault, and he flew to Russia to film 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4 with Varya only a few weeks later. Geoffrey started talking to Varya in January 2019, when he was still in a full relationship with Kristen. Other women also came forward to accuse Geoffrey of starting toxic relationships with them while he was with Kristen and with Varya. Varya has ignored all the evidence and the conviction against Geoffrey and is still pining for him today.
What Has Varya Been Up To Since Geoffrey's Sentencing?
Varya Is Apparently Living Her Best Life
Varya has been living in Geoffrey's house in Knoxville, Tennessee, for years, and has also been able to travel to Puerto Rico and other international locales. Geoffrey won't be released until he is 63 years old, and Varya has stated that she has every intention to wait for him. Most people don't think Varya will ever move back to Russia because she is already planning to obtain American citizenship.
On Reddit, viewers discussed Varya's strategy in a now-deleted post by Suspicious-Visual-57. One 90DF fan commented, "She's using him for a place to stay until she figures out how to stay in the U.S., makes enough money, etc. she's just buying herself time by acting like the devoted housewife." It remains to be seen what Varya's intentions are in staying with Geoffrey, but for now, she is riding the sympathy wave and leaning into those who believe Geoffrey is innocent.
Is Varya Using Geoffrey While He's In Prison
Geoffrey Has Assets
90 Day Fiancé viewers don't think there will be any dispute between Geoffrey's three sons and Varya about the properties. Another Reddit user chimed in, "He isn't dead. Geoffrey still owns whatever he owns and can direct whoever he wants to liquidate as necessary to pay for his appeal."
Varya supports Geoffrey on social media and even pleads with her followers to send him money in prison, but viewers think that she is secretly working on her exit.
Another Redditor wrote, "She is probably already chatting with plenty of men trying to line up a backup plan."
Overall, audiences are convinced that Varya, whose social media posts are concerning, will continue to stay in America and gain citizenship as she continues to support her man. However, she may give up on Geoffrey soon. The late-thirties 90DF reality star may be truly in love with her American fiancé, but it seems unlikely that she'll wait nearly two decades for him, as she may want to have a happy and normal life that includes kids. Until the 90 Day Fiancé star has a reliable way to support herself in America, viewers think that she will continue to be Geoffrey's faithful partner.
In any case, Varya and Geoffrey celebrated five years since they met in person in July 2024. Varya wasted no time expressing her love for her incarcerated multiple-time felon fiancé. Geoffrey's sentencing was eery (via ET), but even that didn't dissuade Varya. In Geoffrey's absence, Varya has remained busy taking advantage of her 90 Day Fiancé fame. She hosts travel meetups with fans and frequently gets out of the country with groups of people.
