The celebrated character actor stole the show once again as his beloved sleuth in the streaming-exclusive movie in 2023, and now he is seemingly open to return once again. Though he spoke cautiously, Shalhoub not only expressed his hope for a sequel, but even hinted that creator Andy Breckman is working behind-the-scenes as well. While Shalhoub warned that "there isn’t a hard fixed plan yet", Monk 2 is beginning to sound like a possibility.

We don’t know if there’s going to be more, but it’s Andy Breckman’s wish, I think he’s signaling the people at NBC and Peacock, as much as the audience. We don’t know anything definite, there isn’t a hard fixed plan yet, but we all had such a great time bringing it back.
