Fast 11: Release Date, Cast, Story & Everything We Know About The Fast & Furious Movie

Summary Fast 11 is the highly anticipated sequel that continues the overarching storyline of Fast X, making it a true sequel in the Fast & Furious franchise.

A reunion between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel has increased excitement for their onscreen chemistry in Fast 11.

Fast 11 is confirmed to be in development with a release date reportedly set for April 4, 2025, though potential delays because of the strikes could change that timeline.

The next action-packed installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast 11, has exciting story details, a promising cast, and a not-too-distant release date. Fast X marks the beginning of the end for The Fast Saga, kicking off a multipart finale that will wrap up the story of Dom Toretto and his fast and furious found family. Fast X Part 2 follows up on that story as Dom Toretto and his family gets closer to their endgame. Vin Diesel, the star and producer of the franchise, is already building hype around the next Fast & Furious movie.

No Fast & Furious sequel has been as intrinsically linked to its predecessor as Fast 11. Whereas most Fast & Furious sequels are their own standalone action movies, Fast X Part 2 is the second part of the overarching storyline that begins in Fast X. It’s a true sequel in the sense that other entries in The Fast Saga aren’t. Since it’s still in the early stages of development, there aren’t many story details or casting announcements for Fast 11 just yet. However, there are a few things known about the next Fast & Furious movie.

Fast 11 Latest News

Though a firm release date for the latest Fast & Furious movie has been known for months, the latest update suggests Fast 11 might be delayed. In a recent interview, Roman Pierce actor Tyrese Gibson spoke about behind-the-scenes goings on for Fast 11 and he hinted at a production timeline that doesn't track with the April 2025 release date. "I'm hearing that we're going to get it going right in 2025, right at the top of the year," said Gibson, implying filming will begin in January or February. Though movies have been made in less time, there's no way a blockbuster epic like Fast & Furious 11 could finish shooting by April 2025, let alone be released.

Because of the strike, both strikes, there were some real delays in writing and kind of getting the film up on its feet. I'm hearing that we're going to get it going right in 2025, right at the top of the year.

The Family Returns In April 2025

According to Vin Diesel himself, the Fast 11 release date is April 4, 2025. This is the kind of quick turnaround that's come to be expected from the franchise, especially with what is being advertised as the second half of the story that started in Fast X. Despite delays caused by the Hollywood strikes of 2023, Fast 11 is still slotted for its originally scheduled release date, but Tyrese Gibson's recent comments about beginning production in early 2025 makes that date dubious. The release date will likely be moved in the future.

Anyone from Dom’s family who wasn't killed off in Fast X will be expected to return in Fast 11

Universal hasn’t announced an official Fast X Part 2 cast list, but it seems inevitable for Diesel to return as the series’ lead, Dom Toretto. Anyone from Dom’s family who wasn't killed off in Fast X will be expected to return in Fast 11. Other main cast members, like Jason Statham as villain-turned-ally Deckard Shaw, Helen Mirren as Shaw’s mother Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw, and Gal Gadot as Gisele, could also reprise their roles in Fast X Part 2.

Gal Gadot's Gisele returned in the Fast X cliffhanger after being killed off in Fast & Furious 6.

Dwayne Johnson’s appearance as Luke Hobbs in Fast X’s post-credits scene will likely lead to a larger supporting role in Fast 11. The post-credit scene also teased the possible return of Eva Mendes as Monica Fuentes. Fast X newcomers like Jason Momoa as the villainous Dante Reyes, Brie Larson as rogue agent Tess, and Daniela Melchior as Brazilian street racer Isabel could reappear in Fast 11 as it follows on from Fast X’s ending.

Until more details are revealed, the main "family" will almost certainly include:

Story Details For The Next Fast & Furious Movie

A Follow-Up To Fast X's Cliffhanger Ending

While the specifics of the Fast 11 story are being kept under wraps for the time being, the cast and crew have teased plot elements for the next Fast & Furious movie. As the second part of the overarching Fast X narrative, Fast X Part 2 will follow on from the cliffhanger ending of Fast X. Fast 11 will also provide a true farewell to Brian O’Conner, the franchise’s co-lead played by the late Paul Walker. Diesel said that ending Brian’s story is integral to ending the Fast & Furious series: “I couldn’t imagine this saga ending without truly saying goodbye to Brian.”

There is also the question of the Fast X cliffhanger teased Hobbs' return to the franchise. While Dwayne Johnson seemed to suggest there will be a spinoff movie for Hobbs, it also seems that he will be brought back for the sequel now that he and Diesel have mended their relationship. It is possible Hobbs could play a pivotal role in saving the day once again.

Fast 11 Will Be The Last In The Main Series

Dom Toretto's Adventure Ends In Fast 11

Though speculation about Fast 12 was sparked by Vin Diesel, the Dom Toretto actor has since confirmed that Fast 11 will be the final entry in the main Fast & Furious series. While this finality gives the movies a chance to close out Dom's storyline as well as Brian's, it isn't the end of the Fast universe. Additional spinoffs are in the works that will continue the legacy of "The Family" far beyond the conclusion seen in Fast 11.
