Peacock features a robust catalog of movies and TV shows, with even more coming to the streaming service in May 2024. Launched to great fanfare in 2020, Peacock changed the streaming game with its mixture of free and paid content, and the streamer was able to land top-tier shows like The Office because of its NBC affiliation. In the years since its debut, Peacock has further expanded its reach by including many hit films on its platform, and it offers one of the largest streaming collections available. Like most streaming services, Peacock's catalog isn't stagnant, and each month the streamer adds dozens of new shows and movies to keep things fresh.
Additionally, Peacock has also become a home for live-streaming sports, and their lucrative deals with the MLB, Premiere League, and World Wrestling Entertainment have made them a truly multifaceted platform. The best TV shows on Peacock represent the upper echelon of streaming entertainment, and the service has begun to create memorable series and movies that rival the original content of their competitors. In May 2024, 97 movies and TV shows are new to Peacock, and that's excluding live sporting events, but in April, the streamer's most popular content continued to be shows that were available to stream the next day like Law & Order: SVU. It's possible some of the May additions could change that.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999) - May 1
The late 1990s and early 2000s were a golden time for rom-com subgenre of teen romance. While plenty of the movies of that particular era have elements that would be considered problematic as they’re watched today, there are several that feel timeless. One of those is 10 Things I Hate About You.
Inspired by William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, the movie features a who’s who of young adult actors at the time. Julia Stiles and Larisa Oleynik star as sisters. Oleynik, as the youngest, isn’t allowed to date until her acerbic older sister does, and so, a plan is hatched by one of the boys in school who wants to date her. The movie, however, is most remembered for Stiles’ epic sonnet and for cementing Heath Ledger’s status as a leading man. It’s his charm and energy as the bad boy with a heart that carries the movie.

The 2009 TV series adaptation of the same story is available to stream on Hulu.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011) - May 1
Thanks to Scream in the ‘90s, horror fans were much more likely to dissect the tropes of the genre. While the Scream franchise has provided a meta take on slashers ever since, Cabin in the Woods takes a meta approach to the horror genre in a very unique way.
When a group of teenagers make a getaway to a cabin in the woods, they end up in the middle of a ritual sacrifice controlled by forces way outside of their control. Behind the scenes is what appears to be a corporation, complete with men in suits, a seemingly endless amount of files, and plenty of computer monitors. Their business, however, is to foster the use of different horror movie tropes and control the narrative to get people to play into the hands of a sacrifice. It’s a fascinating and funny take on horror.

Get Out (2017) - May 1
The horror genre often hits its groove in different subgenres for a few years at a time. There will be a string of slashers that attempt to replicate the success of a classic, or creature features that go for more jump scares than usual, but eventually, a new horror movie comes along with an idea that creates a new kind of story that others want to emulate. That is Jordan Peele’s Get Out.
Prior to the release of Get Out, Peele was best known for his comedy. As a writer and director, however, he’s delved into horror and used the genre to provide commentary on racial and social divides. Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams as a couple who travel to spend time with her family, the movie examines the complexities of how interracial relationships, socioeconomic status, and systemic racism interact.

Jurassic Park (1993) - May 1
Though the Jurassic World movies are not currently on Peacock, the streamer does host quite a few Lego stories in the Jurassic Park universe right now. On May 1, the original Jurassic Park trilogy returns to Peacock for long-time fans of the franchise to enjoy. The trilogy tends to appear on a new streaming site every few months.
While the new movies employ impressive visual effects and blockbuster action, the original movie is still remembered as the best of the bunch. That’s because it featured practical effects with animatronic dinosaurs built to interact with the cast. It was hugely impressive for its time and remains stunning to watch. In the original, the first Jurassic Park is built and a team of experts are invited to visit it for the weekend just as a hurricane heads for the island and an employee plots to steal proprietary information. It’s the perfect storm for disaster.

The Mummy (1999) - May 1
There have been a few different versions of The Mummy on the big screen, but none of them have captured lightning in a bottle the way the 1999 movie did. The movie straddled the line between action blockbuster and campy adventure perfectly. Much of that can be pinned down to the chemistry between the cast, which includes Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.
In the movie, Weisz’s Evelyn pays to get Fraser’s Rick released from a death sentence so that he can take her to an important archaeological find. She is fascinated by Egyptian history and myth and she has almost no fear compared others who are on the hunt for “treasures” of the past. Evelyn is more fascinated by the history than she is any treasure, and Rick just gets roped into her adventure, providing the movie with a love story to support all of the action.

Spy Kids Movies (2001-2011) - May 1
Spy Kids became a (surprisingly, for some) successful franchise thanks to its direct appeal to the kids in the movies' titles. The movies took all of the things that were great about spy movies for adults - secret bases, mustache-twirling villains, seemingly impossible advanced technology - and applied them to the world of children.
The Spy Kids movies are very much as if James Bond or Mission: Impossible had been made for children. The stories center on things that matter to kids, like their parents being kidnapped or nefarious plots involving video games. They are one of those near-perfect franchises that get more fun as kids watch.
Wonder Woman (2017) - May 1
The DC Extended Universe ended before Wonder Woman ever got her third movie, but superhero fans still have this critically lauded movie that they can rewatch over and over. For a long time, DC’s latest slate of superhero movie were only available to stream for Max subscribers, but they are slowly expanding to new platforms, including Peacock.
This is the origin story of sorts for the Wonder Woman that first appeared in Batman v. Superman played by Gal Gadot. It features the perfect blend of a naive Diana and a strong Diana as she embarks on an adventure in the world of men to stop Ares from sending the world into chaos. It features one of the best scenes in any superhero movie ever in its No Man’s Land sequence.
We Are Lady Parts (2021) - May 30
Though the series made its debut in 2021, fans who watched the first season have had to wait three long years for more stories with the main characters. Season 2 is set to debut on May 30 on Peacock in the US and on Channel 4 in the UK.
We Are Lady Parts centers on a group of young Muslim women in the UK who form a punk rock band. While the first season was all about the group coming together and chasing their first professional gig, the second season is set to be about the group figuring out what success means to each of them and whether a career as professional musicians is really what they want. Season 2 is also set to delve more into the personal lives of each of the band members.
All six episodes of We Are Lady Parts will be available to stream on Peacock on the same day.
Also on Peacock throughout the month are new episodes of television shows from NBC-Universal networks, which will stream the day after they air. There are also sports events streaming live on Peacock throughout the month, meaning there's something for everyone in April.
