Every Genshin Impact Dendro Character, Ranked Worst To Best

Every Genshin Impact Dendro Character, Ranked Worst To Best

Summary Baizhu is an underwhelming multitasker, while focused characters like Collei are more reliable.

Not all Dendro characters are effective, with Kaveh and Baizhu lacking compared to others.

Nahida is the best Dendro choice, combining high damage output with support abilities in Genshin Impact.

The roster of playable Dendro characters in Genshin Impact has been expanding ever since the element itself was officially launched along with the release of the Sumeru region in Version 3.0. So far, the popular open-world RPG has a total of nine playable Dendro heroes from various nations, and all of them operate differently from one another. While some of the characters act as DPS in Genshin Impact team comps with Dendro, others act as supports, healers, and elemental enablers for the various possible reactions. Along with their different roles, they also vary in tier and relevance in the game.

Some Dendro characters in Genshin Impact can multitask, while others are more dedicated to a single function – neither is particularly better than the other, considering that a few multitaskers end up being underwhelming in all their functions, while those that are focused on a single activity are so great they are deemed overpowered. Knowing which Dendro characters are the best is the ideal way of incorporating the element into a team comp without sacrificing a slot.

10 Baizhu

The 5-Star Character Tries To Tackle Every Role At Once

Close

Despite being a long-anticipated 5-star hero, Baizhu is the best example of a Genshin Impact Dendro character who is capable of many things and is underwhelming in each of them. The pharmacist from Liyue, who was released with Version 3.6, is mainly a healer but can be used as a Dendro enabler on the field. He can also be a Dendro resonance character for the team’s main DPS, for instance.

With all these functions, Baizhu ends up delivering less than expected across all fields. There are significantly better healers in Genshin Impact, that can be obtained with much less effort. It is best to set Baizhu aside and alter the team structure to have a more reliable healer and Dendro enabler, even if that is with two distinct characters instead of only one.

9 Kaveh

It Can Be Tricky To Build Kaveh Correctly

Close

Curiously enough, another of Version 3.6’s new heroes is among the worst Dendro characters in Genshin Impact. Kaveh, also known as the Kshahrewar Darshan and Alhaitham’s roommate, is not a very competent character. His stats make him most fit for a DPS role, but there are significantly better Dendro DPS characters available.

Even within a 4-star tier classification, Kaveh’s damage output falls short. He is reliant on DMG and Elemental Reactions to be effective, so it can become quite messy building him and finding a proper team comp for his abilities. Kaveh is not completely useless, but he is a suboptimal Genshin Impact character, nevertheless.

8 Collei

The F2P Character Is A Decent Dendro Support For Team Comps

Close

Luckily, the current roster of Dendro characters in Genshin Impact is well-made, and only Kaveh and Baizhu stand out as poor heroes to use. Collei, one of the first Dendro characters, is still a great choice for players looking to build a team centered around the element. While she is not a great source of damage, she is an incredible Dendro spreader, especially for a 4-star.

By occupying a secondary support role in a team comp, Collei can set the stage for a series of powerful Dendro reactions. She is not constantly on the field, but her occasional switch-in is vital for a team’s operation. Genshin Impact's Collei can significantly improve a DPS’s damage output and even protect the team due to how she can strike foes from a safe distance.

7 Kirara

The Character Has A Fun Support Gameplay Kit

Close

Kirara is an example of a solid Dendro character in Genshin Impact. The 4-star yokai from Inazuma is a support character and, while she can take on two distinct roles, she does well in both. As a shielder, she is superb. Kirara’s Skill has a short cooldown and building her to intensify how much damage the shield can absorb is significantly easy. If players are in need of extra protection for the team and either do not want or have a character like Zhongli, Kirara is a great alternative.

As a Dendro character, Kirara also excels at spreading Dendro in Genshin Impact. Though she is not as effective as Collei, for example, she can apply Dendro to enemies quite easily and quickly, all while keeping the team safe with a shield. The recommendation is to prioritize Kirara’s shielding abilities and have Dendro spread as a consequence and alternative.

6 Yaoyao

The 4-Star Unit Can Work As Both A Healer And A Support

Close

Yaoyao is yet another example of a multitasker Dendro character in Genshin Impact, but one that can effectively different functions. The small hero from Liyue can operate as a healer and, though there are significantly better healers in the game, she can also spread Dendro while doing so. The best option, however, is to use Yaoyao as a Dendro enabler and rely on her healing as a consequence.

By focusing on keeping the team’s HP up with a shielder or a main healer, players can use Yaoyao to spread Dendro across a wide area in Genshin Impact. With the use of this method, Yaoyao is even better than Collei at spreading Dendro. This will then allow the rest of the team to trigger Elemental Reactions and take control of the field.

5 Traveler (Dendro)

This Is Considered The Only Good Traveler Form So Far

Close

The Dendro Traveler in Genshin Impact is, controversially, one of the best Dendro characters to date. The main character in the RPG, so far, had a terrible reputation when it came to abilities and was even deemed unplayable until the release of Sumeru. While they will not be the main DPS character in a team comp, the Dendro Traveler is a great sub-DPS and Dendro enabler.

By becoming the team’s secondary source of damage and the one responsible for triggering Dendro reactions, the Traveler can have a menacing presence on the field. As a Dendro character in Genshin Impact, they should be used as a support to the main DPS. The fact that they are completely free and easily obtainable just makes the Dendro Traveler better.

4 Tighnari

The First 5-Star Dendro Character Excels At Triggering Elemental Reactions

Close

Released along with Collei in Version 3.0, Tighnari is a solid Dendro DPS character. While there are not too many options for him to dispute with, he is still strong, even when compared to DPS heroes of other Elements. The archer relies on Elemental DMG to be a consistent Dendro character in Genshin Impact, and his easy-to-achieve build delivers.

Genshin Impact's Tighnari is primarily used to trigger Elemental Reactions and deal pure Dendro DMG through Charged Attacks, so he operates similarly to Ganyu in a sense. He is a great example of how Dendro should be present on the field, but it is important to use extra Dendro heroes in his team comp in order to allow resonance to be activated and his damage to intensify.

3 Emilie

The Dendro From Sub-DPS Is Versatile

Close

Emilie has become one of the most reliable Dendro releases since her release in Version 4.8. The perfumist from Fontaine operates as an off-field sub-DPS who is capable of spreading the element and setting the stage for her main DPS to trigger Elemental Reactions and swiftly destroy opponents. The character specializes specifically in boosting the power of Burning reactions, though Emilie can be used across a variety of team comps, from those focused on Melt to Quicken and even Bloom. The main benefit of having Emilie in Genshin Impact is dealing high and consistent Dendro DMG from off the field.

The downside to Emilie is that Burning is not an Elemental Reaction that is used too frequently. The reaction tends to be much weaker than more advanced Dendro reactions, however, with Pyro coming back into the spotlight with recent releases like Arlecchino and future characters like Mavuika, she may become more useful over time. Regardless of her specialty in Burning reactions, she still excels in other team comps. Her Dendro application is also not as good as that of Nahida, for instance, so the team comp may require another Dendro character to keep up constant Dendro application in Genshin Impact.

2 Alhaitham

The Scholar From Sumeru Is A Powerful DPS

Close

The best damage-dealing Dendro character in Genshin Impact so far is Alhaitham. Although Tighnari is great competition, Alhaitham has extra firepower that makes him a better DPS. He quickly applies Dendro, which means he can take advantage of the Elements that previous characters in his team comp rotation spread to enemies to trigger reactions like Hyperbloom.

Alhaitham’s scaling can be messy for a DPS, as he relies on Elemental Mastery to reach his maximum potential, but his damage output is worth farming for. Unlike Baizhu in Genshin Impact, Alhaitham lives up to his 5-star status and is a pull to be considered whenever rerun banners are featured in the game.

1 Nahida

The Dendro Archon Lives Up To Her Reputation

Close

The absolute best Dendro character in Genshin Impact, however, is Nahida. While she is not exactly a DPS, the Dendro Archon is capable of dealing extreme amounts of damage while operating as a support and off-field sub-DPS. Nahida has great Dendro spread capacities with her Elemental Skill and her Elemental Mastery build is not only easy to achieve but also proves useful as it converts the reactions she triggers into more damage.

Nahida is a great source of secondary damage – nearly matching a main DPS’s damage output – while also serving as a support that shares Elemental Mastery with the team inside the Shrine of Maya, activated by her Elemental Burst. Nahida is one of the Genshin Impact characters that every player should have, mainly because of how strong and wide-ranged she is.

More Dendro characters should be released over time, especially following the introduction of the region of Natlan. The Nation of Pyro is centered around that element, but the playable characters from Natlan in Genshin Impact are not restricted to Pyro – in fact, Kinich, one of the first units from the region, will be a Dendro DPS.
