XO, Kitty Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know

After a smash-hit first season on Netflix, the teen romance series XO, Kitty is returning for a highly-anticipated season 2 in the near future. XO, Kitty comes as a spinoff of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise and sees Anna Cathcart reprise her role as Katherine "Kitty" Song Covey, who travels to South Korea to embark on a journey to find true love. XO, Kitty was created by Jenny Han, author of the books that the To All the Boys movies are based on, and it's the first Netflix series to be spun off from one of their original movies.

When the first season of XO, Kitty debuted in May 2023, the show was met with positive reviews from critics (via Rotten Tomatoes) as well as impressive viewership numbers (via Yahoo!). Each episode is essentially a half-hour romantic comedy, and with an extensive supporting cast, the series has limitless potential for future storylines. Kitty’s love life is only going to get more complicated, especially after the cliffhanger ending of XO, Kitty season 1. Unsurprisingly, Netflix has wasted no time renewing XO, Kitty for a second season.

After a smash-hit first season on Netflix, the streamer wasted little time when renewing XO, Kitty for a second season in June 2023. Despite uncertainty caused by the Hollywood strikes which crippled the film and TV industry for most of 2023, Netflix's confidence in the teen romance showed just how strong the popularity of the spinoff actually was. Now, the streamer has scheduled season 2 to arrive on January 16, 2025.

Netflix made the renewal announcement via a post on X (formerly Twitter):

All 10 episodes of XO, Kitty season 1 premiered on Netflix on May 18, 2023.

More Romance & More Twists Expected

The fact that one of Dae’s best friends is in love with Kitty will surely create all kinds of conflict between the three, putting even more strain on Kitty’s relationship with Dae.

The cliffhanger ending of the season 1 finale set up a few storylines for XO, Kitty season 2. The first season ended with Kitty getting on a plane and reading a long-lost letter from her mother Eve, who revealed that her first love was a man named Simon. To Kitty’s surprise, Min Ho was sitting next to her on the plane, where he confessed that he has romantic feelings for her, leaving her baffled.

Following on from these revelations in the season 1 finale, XO, Kitty season 2 could revolve around Kitty’s search for Simon to get more answers about her mother’s past. The fact that one of Dae’s best friends is in love with Kitty will surely create all kinds of conflict between the three, putting even more strain on Kitty’s relationship with Dae. Kitty is still in love with Yuri, and he is still in love with Juliana, so that plot thread will likely continue to intensify in XO, Kitty season 2.
