How To Find (& Catch) 3-Star Sharks In Dave The Diver
To catch 3-Star Sharks in Dave the Diver, players must combine their deep-sea fishing skills with a unique piece of equipment. Sharks are among the most dangerous undersea creatures players can encounter in this game, with players running a hit sushi restaurant, serving up seafood delicacies based on what they can catch in the depths. However, turning sharks into sushi is often a tall order.
To obtain high-quality three-star fish, like Seahorses in Dave the Diver, players must catch the fish without hurting it. The easiest way to do this is to use a Net Gun or a tranquilizer weapon to immobilize the fish, making them easy to catch. However, Sharks and other large fish cannot be caught this way due to their size. Instead, players need to tranquilize Sharks before using the Underwater Drone to scoop them up.

How To Find And Tranquilize Sharks In Dave The Diver
Make The Sharks Sleepy First
Sharks are much larger than ordinary fish, and players will be able to spot them easily. They appear as early as the game’s first chapter and can be found at all times of day at various depths. However, players hunting sharks should try to unlock Dave the Diver’s Night Fishing by completing the A Noisy Customer side quest in Chapter Two. When diving at night, players will find more hostile fish, including sharks, will spawn.
Players have to use the Tranquilizer Rifle or Modified Hush Dart to tranquilize sharks. These weapons require players to upgrade the basic Rifle and Hush Dart using the Duff’s Weapon Shop app on Dave’s smartphone. The Tranquilizer Rifle is the best option, as players only have to craft an essential upgrade to obtain it. With the Rifle, each shot has a 40% chance of tranquilizing the target.
Other tranquilizing weapons, such as the Tranquilizer Harpoon and the hilariously named Sleepy Hammer, can also be used, but players can only obtain these from random drops.
To tranquilize a Shark, all players have to do is fire at the animal until a shot knocks it out. It’s important for players to anticipate and dodge a Shark’s attacks, as taking damage leads to Dave losing precious oxygen. However, likely, players will already have lots of combat experience from fighting Dave the Diver’s Giant Squid by the time they’re trying to harvest high-quality shark meat.
How To Use The Drone To Catch Sharks In Dave The Diver
Can't Miss The Tuna Party
Once players have knocked a Shark out cold, they can use the Underwater Drone to tie it up and carry it to the surface. This allows players to catch a three-star Shark. Unfortunately, the Underwater Drone shows up the afternoon after receiving the Tuna Party invitation, a seasonal event occurring randomly during the main story. While you cannot plan for this event, the Drone is absolutely essential, as players can’t move stunned large fish without it.
Players who haven’t unlocked the Underwater Drone can only obtain 1-Star Sharks with the Harpoon.
It will show up in Cobra's store, where players will have to "pay" to unlock it. Luckily, version 1 of the Drone is free, so you do not need to set aside any coin. Once unlocked, players can interact with any stunned Shark to summon the Underwater Drone. It’s worth noting that the Underwater Drone can only be used once per dive, but this can be upgraded using the iDiver app on Dave’s smartphone. These upgrades are very expensive, so Dave the Diver players will need to set aside some cash from their sushi bar profits.
Done Level # of Uses (Per Dive) Cost To Unlock 1 1 Nothing 2 2 6300 3 3 12,800
However, there is nothing like a Tuna Party to get cash flowing, so with your new drone, you can catch a fair amount of tuna and make progress toward getting that drone upgraded. You will also need to utilize your new Steel Net traps from Cobra to get a hefty amount of Tuna for this event. Gramps Games on YouTube suggests using the Tropical Fish Sushi Set as a menu item for the party, given its high return value. He upgraded the item to Level 2, giving it a value of 487 coins.
With the Party going, you could be well on your way to catching multiple 3-Star Sharks in Dave the Diver per dive, and there are a fair number of sharks to catch. The full list of Sharks requiring this method of capture at the 3-Star level are as follows:
Blacktip Reefshark
Copper Shark
Thresher Shark
Zebra Shark
Whitetip Reefshark
Longnose Sawshark
Tiger Shark
Cookiecutter Shark*
Frilled Shark
Megamouth Shark
Greenland Shark
Porbeagle Shark
Bloodskin Shark
Gazing Shark
Notably, the Cookiecutter Shark* can only be captured using this method in any form, as it must be caught whole using a tranquilizer. However, by the time you reach the Cookiecutter Shark, you should be well on your way to being a pro at catching 3-Star sharks in Dave The Diver.
