Not long after it was announced that Olivia Colman won't return, the latest update confirms 3 new characters for Heartstopper season 3. The recent announcement confirms that Jonathan Bailey will indeed be part of season 3's ensemble as Jack Maddox, and it also revealed that MCU alum Hayley Atwell will appear as Nick's aunt Diane. Additionally, Eddie Marsan has been tapped to play the role of Geoff, Nick's therapist. All three characters are integral to the original comic books.

Heartstopper season 3 was confirmed by Netflix just a month or so after the season 1 finale aired, promising that author Alice Oseman would return to write seasons 2 and 3. It's unknown whether season 3 will be the final installment of Heartstopper, though this is highly unlikely. There are four volumes of Oseman's Heartstopper graphic novels to draw from, with one on the way.

According to a Netflix-produced BTS video, production is likely to wrap sometime in the first quarter of 2024.
