American Horror Story Season 13: Confirmation & Everything We Know

American Horror Story Season 13: Confirmation & Everything We Know

Summary American Horror Story season 13 has been confirmed and is part of a multi-season order.

The release date for American Horror Story season 13 is yet to be announced, and it might be delayed due to season 12's two-part structure.

While there is no confirmed cast for season 13, it's likely that returning cast members like Emma Roberts and Zachary Quinto could make an appearance.

American Horror Story season 13 will arrive on the back of over a decade of disturbing small-screen terror, and there’s already speculation on what comes next. Starting with season 1 (now referred to as Murder House) in 2011, each season of American Horror Story takes the show to a different setting with the ensemble cast portraying new roles. AHS: Delicate took the franchise in another new direction by adapting a book for the first time, Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. American Horror Story could go anywhere, which makes AHS season 13 all the more exciting as a prospect.

There are plenty of ideas from prior seasons that never materialized, all of which could potentially become American Horror Story season 13. Ryan Murphy’s anthology horror show was renewed up to a 13th season, so Delicate is by no means the end. While a release date confirmation likely won’t come until after the current run is concluded there’s still much to digest for American Horror Story season 13, who the cast could play in the next chapter of the anthology horror show, and — most importantly – which terrifying setting the FX show will explore next.

Though there is almost no news regarding AHS season 13, the latest update confirms American Horror Story: Delicate part 2's release date. Now slated to arrive on April 3rd, 2024, Delicate part 2 represents another major shift in the lengthy franchise as the first main series season to be split in half. The delay was due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, and it may cause a ripple effect that bumps season 13 even further into the future. While nothing is confirmed, the delays of season 12 might, in turn, delay season 13.

The 2023 Hollywood strikes involved the SAG-AFTRA and WGA unions going on strike in solidarity for better pay and fair working conditions.

American Horror Story season 13 is confirmed, although the announcement came several years ago. It was announced in 2020 (via Entertainment Weekly) that American Horror Story — at the time on season 9, American Horror Story: 1984 — had been renewed for seasons 10-13. There haven’t been any specific updates on season 13 since, but since both the 11th and 12th seasons have arrived as planned there’s no reason to presume FX has reversed their multi-season order.

Who Could Appear In Season 13?

Close

There’s no confirmed cast for American Horror Story season 13, but there are some candidates who could appear since Ryan Murphy has kept a steady ensemble cast throughout most of AHS. Emma Roberts made her return to the show for Delicate, and it’s possible she could return for American Horror Story season 13. Zachary Quinto, another mainstay in the earlier seasons, has also been present in both Delicate and season 11.

New cast members introduced in Delicate could become regular cast members with a role in the American Horror Story season 13 cast. Kim Kardashian controversially landed a role in Delicate, and she could very well find herself as part of the American Horror Story season 13 cast. There are also former cast members, such as Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, who haven’t been present in AHS for a while but could well be back for the season 13 cast.

The narrative and setting of each season of American Horror Story have always been the key talking points for the show - and there have been no hints at the setting for American Horror Story season 13. It could go anywhere, especially since Delicate broke the formula by adapting a book. Each season has had a different theme, from carnivals and asylums to the horror and paranoia of the 1980s AIDs pandemic in New York. There have been many possible American Horror Story themes put forward over the years by both Murphy and fans.

Some ideas have included the Wild West, a subway or cruise ship, or an orphanage or boarding school. All of these have gained traction in various fan circles, but so far Ryan Murphy and FX have remained tight-lipped about the American Horror Story season 13 story. Some prior seasons, such as Double Feature, Cult, and the ongoing Delicate, have explored themes rather than specific locations. It could be that when American Horror Story season 13 arrives it is once more based on an idea or concept rather than a setting.
