Gen V Season 2: Renewal, Cast, Story & Everything We Know

Summary Gen V season 2 is confirmed by Amazon & is ready to film in April 2024.

The series expands The Boys universe, focusing on Supes in college at Godolkin University.

Major cliffhangers from season 1 hint at Homelander's influence & possible Vought plans.

The hormonal teenaged Supes of Godolkin University made their Amazon Prime Video debut in 2023, and there are already questions about what lies ahead in Gen V season 2. Set immediately after The Boys season 3, Gen V focuses on the young Super students of the Godolkin University School of Crime Fighting — an institution that’s both an obvious X-Men satirization and recruitment tool for Vought International. The Boys creator Eric Kripke returned to develop the show, which will both expand the universe of The Boys and stand on its own.

Amazon knew how popular Gen V would be when it entered development, and Gen V was confirmed for a second season before the first even arrived. In January 2023 it was reported that Amazon had opened a writer’s room for Gen V season 2 to begin early development on the next chapter of The Boys spinoff. As predicted the spinoff of The Boys was a hit with Amazon Prime Video subscribers, and now Gen V season 2 is officially on the way.

The tragic death of actor Chance Perdomo in March 2024 left the production reeling, and the latest news confirms that Andre will not be recast in Gen V season 2. Originally slated to begin filming in April 2024, Gen V was temporarily delayed by Perdomo's shocking passing, and several months have passed as the producer and creatives attempt to rework the story. Now, it has been revealed that Andre will not be recast and that production is slated to resume in May 2024. It is unclear how Andre will fit into the story of the sophomore season, but the producers explained their decision in a post on Instagram.

Gen V Season 2 Has Been Renewed For Season 2

More Teen Superhero Action Is On The Way

Gen V season 2 is confirmed, with Amazon announcing the renewal of the hit The Boys spinoff on October 19, 2023 (via Variety). The show proved to be a hit for Amazon, as evidenced by the mid-season renewal confirmation before the finale on November 8. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, released the following statement explaining why giving Gen V season 2 the go-ahead was an easy decision to make:

“Expanding the universe of ‘The Boys’ with a series as bold as ‘Gen V’ has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew ‘Gen V’ would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped ‘Gen V’ become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries. ‘Gen V’ is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new Original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from ‘Gen V’ to our customers.”

Gen V Season 2 Production Status

Season 2 Begins Filming In May 2024

All things considered, season 2 of Gen V is already moving along much faster than most series, and that is due to its early renewal. Largely missing the strikes of 2023, Gen V season 2 was set to begin filming in April 2024, but the tragic passing of Andre actor Chance Perdomo has caused those plans to be delayed. A few months later, producers revealed that Andre will not be recast and production is scheduled to begin in May 2024.

Who Is Returning For Season 2?

Close

The cast of Gen V season 2 will see many returning names from the first season. Even actors portraying characters who died could still be part of the cast via flashbacks, and with a show set in a universe like The Boys there's always a chance that a dead character could return via some shady Vought International experimentation. Unfortunately, the cast of Gen V season 2 has been marred by tragedy as Andre actor Chance Perdomo passed away in a motorcycle accident in late March 2024. His character was scheduled to return for the sophomore season, but producers have since announced that Andre will not be recast.

Since there have been no other major announcements, the returning Gen V season 2 cast is expected to include:

Did Marie Survive Her Encounter With Homelander?

Some plans will need to change for Gen V season 2 because of the tragic passing of Andre actor Chance Perdomo.

The ending of Gen V left several teases for what will happen when the show returns. The Gen V season 1 finale ended with Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Little Cricket locked away in a padded cell by Vought, with the news blaming them for the events caused by Sam and Cate. However, when Marie comes around, the rest of the group doesn't appear overly agitated. Their lives don't seem to be in danger, which means Vought must have plans for them in Gen V season 2.

Some plans will need to change for Gen V season 2 because of the tragic passing of Andre actor Chance Perdomo. The producers have made it clear that Andre will not be recast, meaning his character's absence will need to be explained. Likewise, his plot threads may need to be pushed off on someone else, or they could be abandoned altogether.

The ending of Gen V season 1 also saw the surprise appearance of Homelander, who arrived just as Marie had exploded Cate's arm and put a stop to the rogue Supes she'd unleashed. Homelander looked set to end Marie's life with his laser vision before the scene cuts to black and he's seen again smirking at TV coverage proclaiming that Sam and Cate are the new "Guardians of God U". It's clear he had something to do with whatever happened in the direct aftermath and Marie ending up in a Vought facility. Exactly what happened, and how Marie survived Homelander's laser vision, however, won't be revealed until Gen V season 2 returns.
