NBC's revival of the classic '80s sitcom Night Court has kept audiences in stitches throughout its first two seasons, and the reboot has been renewed for season 3. Led by The Big Bang Theory's Melissa Rauch, the revived Night Court follows Judge Abby Stone, the daughter of original series lead Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), who presides over the Manhattan Criminal Court's night shift. Like its predecessor, Night Court leans heavily on the zany humor that is derived from its open-ended premise, and nearly every episode features a new and memorable guest character.

The first season of Night Court garnered generally positive reviews from critics, who pointed out that the revival did enough to separate itself from the original (via Rotten Tomatoes). Regardless of the reviews, NBC clearly had a hit on their hands and wasted no time in renewing the burgeoning sitcom for a second season. However, the Hollywood strikes of 2023 put a damper on Night Court's fall 2023 return, and the series instead came back in early 2024. NBC Renews Night Court

Though it took a few weeks after the season 2 finale, the latest news confirms that NBC has renewed Night Court for a third season. The sophomore season was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but the show was able to rebound quickly and didn't miss a beat. This continued popularity made NBC's decision quite easy, and season 3 has been picked up. Reportedly, Night Court season 3 will premiere sometime between October 2024 and January 2025, and will consist of 18 episodes.

Though some speculated that Night Court's hasty season 2 renewal was a fluke, NBC's decision to renew the show for season 3 puts those doubts to bed. A little over a month after Night Court season 2 ended, the network opted to pick the show up for another round, ordering an additional 18 episodes which will premiere sometime between October 2024 and January 2025.

While nothing is official yet, the cast of Night Court season 3 will likely look similar to the cast of the second season. Since she is an integral part of the show both in front of and behind the camera, Melissa Rauch will almost certainly return as Judge Abby Stone in season 3, and her usual cast of misfit friends and colleagues are expected to follow as well. The first two seasons have also introduced a host of compelling guest characters, and season 3 of Night Court is expected to continue that trend as well.

Night Court has been no different, though they have dropped a few teases about character development that have paid off rather quickly. Abby's love life on Night Court has especially been a strong focus, but it is difficult to predict where her story outside of work will go until next season.

Though the plot for Night Court season 3 is impossible to predict at this juncture, fans can expect to see the usual late-night courtroom shenanigans that have made the reboot, and the original for that matter, so successful.
