Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred - Tenets of Depravity Guide
Once you beat the final boss of Diablo 4's Vessel of Hatred expansion, you can start the "Tenets of Depravity," a long series of side quests that lead to great rewards. From unique gear to plenty of XP, this postgame content is worth pursuing to improve your character's strength and arsenal. However, this quest has many stages, making it somewhat confusing to pursue from start to finish.
One of the easiest ways to start seasonal content is to make a new character and skip the main campaign. When selecting your character's Realm, make sure you pick a Seasonal Realm to take part in the Vessel of Hatred quests in Season 6 of Diablo 4. Green leaf icons will mark spots on your map where you can begin seasonal content once your character has entered the right world.
How To Start The Tenets of Depravity Quest
Talk To The Right Person And Get Started
Close
The only way to start the "Tenets of Depravity" quest is to talk to the Guard near the east side of Upper Kurast. This soldier will not appear until you have also started the "Deeds of a Champion" quest tied to the main story of Vessel of Hatred. Once you have met the right requirements, ask the Guard about the dead civilian they're near to begin the series of side missions.
You won't be able to access seasonal content in Vessel of Hatred until you beat Act 7 of Diablo 4's main campaign at least once. When you do, you can have another character created to skip the campaign straight to the right side quest.
Other NPCs may also speak of Captain Kharov besides the guard, so explore Upper Kurast to find other ways to start the quest if one isn't showing up. When you do get the quest, a marker should appear on your map telling you where to go next. Be sure to disable any other quest markers you might have active, including the "Deeds of a Champion" quest that indicates for you to go somewhere else.
How To Complete The Tenets of Depravity Quest
Go Through Four Different Missions
There are four different quests within the larger "Tenets of Depravity" mission, including:
"Sacrament of the Faithless"
"An End to Suffering"
"Companion to Madness"
"Scion of Blasphemies"
Unlike the trials and tribulations it may take to defeat the final boss of Vessel of Hatred's story, some of these missions are very simple. You may just need to talk to another NPC or travel somewhere else on your world map. Those who have explored the regions in Season 6 may have already unlocked all the Waypoint fast travel spots required to reach some of the quest objectives quickly.
How To Complete Sacrament Of The Faithless
The first quest, "Sacrament of the Faithless" starts the moment you hear about Captain Kharov. Head to Faith's Torch, another area north of the Seven Stones where you can speak to the NPC Priest Dimitriy for more details on the deranged officer. You'll find him locked in a stockade, where you can ask him more details about what's going on surrounding the Knights in the region.
Apparently, the Knights here suffer from a vice called the "Sacrament," which a nearby Scribe welcomes with open arms on the Captain's orders. Defeat the Berserk Knight the Scribe releases, then speak to the Priest again. Pick up the Account of Captain Kharov's Madness near the Priest, then report to the NPC Prava in Gea Kul on the north end of the settlement to complete this part of the quest.
How To Complete An End To Suffering
Prava will tell you to look for Captain Kharov at the Burned Knight Camp in Seven Stones, an area marked on your map. Travel here and inspect the corpse of the Impaled Knight to reveal a hidden dungeon in Diablo 4 named "Faith's Torch: Knight Command Quarter." This place is full of danger, so make sure your character is ready to take on several threats.
Finishing any of the side quests in "Tenets of Depravity" will reward you with XP and Gold to level up your character and help them purchase better gear respectfully. Don't forget to gain new skills and gear before tackling the next quest in this series.
Inside the small dungeon, you'll find a group of loyalists to Kharov burning Priest Dmitriy at the stake. Defeat everyone in here and talk to the Priest again, who mentions how someone named Marzhan knows about Kharov's location. Dmitriy says this person is at the Seared Revelation camp and dies after telling you this vital information.
How To Complete Companion To Madness
You may remember Marzhan as the one who put Dmitriy in the stockades some time ago. Investigating the Burned Knight base at the Seven Stones will reveal this character again, who quickly jumps to help you as a way to get into Kharov's good graces. Follow Marzhan carefully and clear out any enemies that would also seek an audience with the Captain in the nearby arena.
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator Akifini's Gaming, you can speak to Marzhan again to reveal that Kharov resides in a place called the Temple of the Profane. Apparently, his followers are gathering in an event named the "Blood Pilgrimage," something you are invited to with great enthusiasm. You can question Marzhan further, but the invitation marks the end of this side quest.
How To Complete Scion Of Blasphemies
The final side mission in this questline has you reach the Temple of Profane now marked in the Seven Stones on your map. This place is a standard dungeon, but it is not unlocked until you have completed all the previous quests. Inside the Temple, a set of gates are locked until you collect several Condemned Trophies from Elite enemies in Diablo 4 scattered around the dungeon's halls.
The new Spiritborn class in Diablo 4 has plenty of tools to deal with enemies in the Temple of the Profane, including Guardian Spirits that can decimate hordes holding the Trophies you need.
When you open the locked gates, you can defeat the boss Captain Kharov to conclude this questline once and for all. The drops from the Captain are incredibly rare depending on what World Tier you challenged him on. Completing the "Tenets of Depravity" series of quests in Diablo 4 will also reward you with some guaranteed loot that will help your character grow much stronger.
