Wonder Woman's Maximum Power Level Came with a Devastating New Codename
A DC Black Label series has finally revealed the catastrophic consequences of Wonder Woman unleashing her full powers, resulting in a world-ending event. This ultimate display of Diana’s strength not only introduces a chilling new codename but also adds one of the darkest chapters to the Amazon Princess’s lore in decades.
Wonder Woman destroying Earth underscores just how dangerous she becomes when her powers are unchecked by the Bracelets of Submission.
Wonder Woman: Dead Earth #3 by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer continues the dark narrative of Diana Prince awakening from a centuries-long sleep to find her friends gone, Earth reduced to a wasteland, and her memories incomplete.
After joining forces with human survivors, Diana learns that Earth's destruction was caused by an event known as "The Great Fire." However, the survivors can’t offer much more information, as this catastrophe occurred long before their time. Determined to uncover the truth, Wonder Woman heads to the Fortress of Solitude to find out why Superman didn’t save the world when it needed him most.
Wonder Woman Reveals She Was “The Great Fire” That Destroyed Earth
Diana’s Fight With Superman Set the World Ablaze, Turning It Into a Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland
Accompanied by a mutated Cheetah, Wonder Woman arrives at the Fortress of Solitude, where she is greeted by a Superman-inspired android who introduces himself as a "helper" and part of Clark. When Diana asks about Clark, the robot leads them inside, revealing Superman’s long-dead body and the shocking truth that Wonder Woman was the one who killed him. As Diana's memories begin to resurface in a flashback, it's revealed that she and Superman fought to the death after the humans—whom Clark defended—launched nuclear warheads on Themyscira, obliterating her home, sisters, and mother.
The narrative depicts Wonder Woman and Superman’s battle raging across the globe, their blows so powerful they ignite the world. In that moment, Diana realizes she is "The Great Fire." Since Wonder Woman initiated the attack, despite Superman’s pleas for her to stop, she is ultimately responsible for Earth becoming the wasteland it is. This revelation devastates her, as her memories are still resurfacing, leaving her distant from the emotions that once drove her to fight her best friend, leading to his death and the near destruction of the planet.

Wonder Woman Just Proved She’s the Justice League’s Most Dangerous Member
The Only Thing That Keeps Diana’s Devastating Power Levels In Check Are Her Bracelets of Submission
Key context behind Wonder Woman’s destruction of Earth lies in her desperate attempt to stop the nuclear warheads, which led her to remove her Bracelets of Submission. As revealed earlier, Diana has worn these bracelets since childhood to control her immense and often uncontrollable power, which easily caused irreparable damage. Seeing her home, sisters, and mother destroyed likely resulted in an emotional response that further elevated her powers and their uncontrollable nature. This makes Wonder Woman a sympathetic figure, despite her role in Earth’s destruction, but also underscores just how dangerous she becomes when her powers are unchecked by the Bracelets of Submission.
