Bel-Air Season 3 Cannot Be The Last According To What Happened In Will Smith’s Original Fresh Prince

Bel-Air Season 3 Cannot Be The Last According To What Happened In Will Smith’s Original Fresh Prince

Bel-Air ended season 3 with surprising cliffhangers that parallel popular episodes from The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, highlightin how the show is far from finished with opportunities to expand the original show’s plot. The original Fresh Prince had a successful run of 6 seasons, with the show exploring different developments of the main characters. Following the ending of Bel-Air season 3, Bel-Air could continue its run with more seasons. There are plenty more storylines to cover from Fresh Prince’s major plot points.

Bel-Air’s season 3 finale reveals Aunt Viv’s positive pregnancy test, which is the perfect nod to the original sitcom. This is because one of Fresh Prince’s important storylines in season 3 was also Aunt Viv’s pregnancy. Bel-Air’s prominent stories are an ideal reflection of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, but with a more dramatic approach. From Carlton’s drug addiction inspired by season 3, episode 19, “Just Say Yo”, to LaMarcus’s predicted fate inspired by season 4, episode 2, “When There’s A Will, There’s A Way (Part 2)”, Bel-Air has plenty more ground to cover in future seasons.

Bel-Air Still Has A Lot Of Fresh Prince Storylines Left To Be Covered

There's Plenty Of Story Left To Be Told In Bel-Air

Bel-Air lives up to Will Smith’s original Fresh Prince with creative twists, paying homage to similar details from the original series. Although Bel-Air is a different show, the major storylines are still apparent, including Will’s dad returning, Hilary getting married, and Aunt Viv's pregnancy. Other important plot points Bel-Air could cover in a potential season 4 besides the pregnancy plot and the aftermath of Hilary’s honeymoon include Baby Nicky’s introduction, Will and Carlton’s college journey, Ashley’s adolescent development, and even more weddings. Bel-Air could cover another notable storyline from the original to connect to Will’s kidnapping in the finale’s cliffhanger.

In season 5, episode 15, “Bullets Over Bel-Air”, the Fresh Prince episode takes a dramatic turn when Will and Carlton are robbed at gunpoint during an ATM errand, resulting in the robber shooting Will. Bel-Air has an advantage, which could expand the details of the shooting to connect to Will’s kidnapping as a potential storyline for the next season. Although Will was protecting Carlton from the shooter, Bel-Air could reverse the role of Will once again protecting someone, but this time the character is Geoffrey. It only makes sense for Geoffrey to find Will, since he noticed someone previously following him before.

After the shocking conclusion of Bel-Air’s season 3 finale, the reboot series officially needs to return with another season. Season 4 has the advantage of covering and resolving plenty of plot points that were introduced in season 3. It would be a shame to see elements like Will's kidnapping end in an unsatisfactory manner because of a premature cancelation. There are simply too many unresolved plot points in Bel-Air for the show to be concluded with just three seasons.

Bel-Air moving forward with season 4 could dive into the fallout of Will’s kidnapping, explore the aftermath of him experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder from the incident. The kidnapping plot also opens a natural opportunity for Will’s dad to return, setting him up to help find his son. Bel-Air has the potential to expand on innovative storylines for further continuation, could easily reach a length that's more comparable to Fresh Prince’s long, successful six-season run.
