From Season 3 Star Reveals 1 Storyline That Still Confuses Him
Warning: SPOILERS ahead for From season 3, episode 4!From star Harold Perrineau has revealed the one ongoing storyline for Boyd in season 3 that still confuses him about its purpose. Throughout From season 3, Boyd has been targeted by the creatures in the town, who tormented him by killing Tian-Chen (Elizabeth Moy) in front of him in the premiere episode. In season 3, episode 4, they forced him to abandon Randall (A.J. Simmons), who was tortured and left outside the Colony House at the end of the episode. However, this isn't the only storyline the town's Sheriff has been dealing with.
Speaking with Radio Times, Perrineau revealed he still doesn't know the purpose behind Boyd speaking to an imaginary Father Khatri (Shaun Majumder) throughout From season 3. The actor explained creator John Griffin could probably answer the question, also commenting on how he used to see his wife, Abby (Lisa Ryder), who hasn't appeared since season 2. His comments indicate the interactions' purpose won't be resolved by the end of the season, implying they'll play a bigger role in the overarching show. Check out what Perrineau had to say below:
That's a really good John Griffin [creator] question, because I still don't know what that's about. I don't know what John's getting at with that, with [actor] Shaun [Majumder]. And before it was Abby and Father Khatri, and then this [season], it's just Father Khatri. So, I don't even know what he's getting at. I don't even know what it might be... I have no idea if it's gonna keep going, ramp up, why it’s there. We have it a few times in this season. I don't know where that's going, so it’s just gonna be there this season, and we'll see whatever it means.
What Boyd & Father Khatri's Conversations Mean For From Season 3
They Don't Appear To Be Over Just Yet

Khatri has acted as part of Boyd's consciousness since his death in season 1, maintaining a core role on the cast of From as a way for him to organize his thoughts. However, while he continues to offer him advice even after his death, it's unclear if this is part of the Sheriff coping with his death, or a mechanism being used by the town itself. Because of how mysterious their location continues to be, there's no indication of how big a role Khatri's appearances are going to have on the overarching storyline.
Related Why Father Khatri's Ghost Is Still Appearing To Boyd After Dying In From Season 1 Even though Father Khatri died in From's first season, the character still appears to Boyd throughout the events of season 3 — but why?
Since Perrineau isn't entirely sure what the deeper meaning behind the priest's reappearances are, it seems like a question that won't be answered until a potential From season 4. As for season 3, the moments simply appear to be ways Boyd is coping with the loss of a friend, trying to decipher what he would say in the various stressful situations he's found himself in lately. Given the unpredictable nature of the series, though, this could easily change as the show continues, morphing into something far more important in the process.
Our Take On Boyd's Conversations With Khatri In From Season 3
They're Likely A Coping Mechanism For His Friend's Death
Close
As interesting as it would be for Boyd's conversations with Khatri to be connected to the town as a whole, it makes more sense for this to be a coping mechanism as he continues mourning the loss of his friend. The arguments they have are the push and pull of the Sheriff's consciousness as he tries to decide the best course of action, all through the lens of his grief. This means From may not directly reveal the importance of these conversations, leaving it up to interpretation with brief hints about what it means.
