Rockstar's Red Dead Announcement May Be Bad News For GTA 6's Next Trailer

Rockstar's Red Dead Announcement May Be Bad News For GTA 6's Next Trailer

Fans have been awaiting literally any news surrounding the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, and many believed that some form of information was imminent. While the game has received a single trailer so far and a handful of details, little is known about GTA 6 and what it entails for fans of the franchise. Naturally, with it being October, fans had anticipated that something was on the horizon, and they were right - only it was for the wrong game.

Rockstar announced that Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to PC, a reveal that blew the minds of many, and likely felt like a disappointment to some. This is because Red Dead Redemption's PC port may actually be bad news for the next major trailer for GTA 6, especially considering the timing of the announcement. Fans hoping that they'd see even a sliver of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay might be out of luck.

Why Fans Thought A GTA 6 Trailer Might Happen In October

October Is A Big Month For Rockstar

Close

Rockstar absolutely loves the month of October as it typically reveals or launches games within the spooky season. Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, was launched in October 2018, and, unsurprisingly, the Red Dead Redemption PC port is also coming in October. So, it's understandable that fans thought that another GTA 6 trailer may drop during the month, especially considering Rockstar's track record.

Related GTA 6 Should Learn From Red Dead Redemption 2’s Storyline, Not GTA 5's Rockstar Studios should learn as much as possible for GTA 6’s story from RDR2's Arthur Morgan, as he has one of the greatest character arcs in gaming.

While fans already know some details surrounding the next GTA, such as Grand Theft Auto 6's Fall release window, there are still many things that have been kept a secret, including what the game actually looks like in motion. The first trailer only really showed off cinematic footage, not actual gameplay, which, while helping to set the tone of the game, doesn't give much insight into what players might be doing. That's why fans were hoping for a trailer in October, to finally answer some of their burning questions.

A New GTA 6 Trailer Doesn't Look Likely This Month

Red Dead Redemption PC Port Takes The Spotlight

Unfortunately, there's a good chance that a Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer may not come this October, and that's all thanks to Red Dead Redemption's PC port. This seems to be the big focus of Rockstar right now despite being developed by Double Eleven, for its release date of October 29, 2024. Of course, Rockstar will want to avoid overshadowing the release of Red Dead Redemption on PC by dropping a trailer for GTA 6 just a few weeks or even days before.

It's perhaps now unlikely that a GTA 6 trailer will drop in October, which will be disappointing for many, especially those who are concerned by the reports that it won't run well. There is always a chance that fans will be surprised, but it's not really worth getting excited about, especially as Rockstar is likely saving the next trailer for later this year, perhaps even for the Game Awards. It's a bittersweet scenario, as Red Dead Redemption fans will get to enjoy the PC port, while Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are left still waiting for that legendary gameplay trailer to drop.
