Hogwarts Legacy's Rumored DLC Has An Obvious Storyline To Include

Hogwarts Legacy offered players a fairly robust Harry Potter experience with easily the best representation fans have gotten of Hogwarts, perhaps even surpassing the film version. However, while there was plenty to love about Hogwarts Legacy, it was hard not to want more. Luckily, it seems like fans are being treated to a fairly hefty amount of new content and there's one storyline it should add that would make the game even better.

A leaker revealed that Hogwarts Legacy will be getting 15 hours of DLC in a revamped Definitive Edition of the game, adding a wealth of new story content as well as new activities and cosmetics. It sounds like a much-needed injection of new content that's sure to keep fans entertained for quite some time. However, one character in particular definitely deserves the spotlight in this DLC, and it's perhaps not the most obvious choice.

His Backstory Needs Fleshing Out

While the base Hogwarts Legacy experience features Ominis Gaunt to some degree, his backstory isn't as detailed or as fleshed out as it could be, being mentioned or - very rarely - directly appearing during Sebastian Sallow's questline. If the new DLC were to focus on Ominis Gaunt, players could get a greater insight into this fascinating character and how he ended up turning against his family's wishes.

He comes from a long line of pure-bloods - Ominis is just one of the many characters in Hogwarts Legacy that are related to someone from the books, with his ancestors including Isolt Sayre who founded Ilvermorny and, of course, Voldemort himself - and as such, his defiance of their beliefs begs for a deeper exploration. While it's unlikely that the DLC will take players away from the main map, exploring how Ominis came to experience his trauma and eventually ended up befriending Sebastian would be interesting.

However, even outside his more tragic backstory, seeing how Ominis overcame his trauma and managed to lead a typical life is equally compelling. Contending with his family's beliefs and his trauma would be interesting, especially if handled deftly.

Hogwarts Legacy has already proven that it can deal with difficult themes with the Sebastian Sallow questline, and a darker exploration of grief and trauma would elevate its otherwise messy main plot significantly. Suffice it to say, there are plenty of routes surrounding Ominis that could be explored if the DLC takes place during the events of Hogwarts Legacy's main story.

His Fate Is Left Ambiguous By The End

If the DLC is set post-Hogwarts Legacy, then it should absolutely focus on what happens to Ominis after the events of the Sebastian Sallow questline. As Ominis was staying with Sebastian during the holidays to avoid going back to his own home, he'd have nowhere left to go, especially if players pick the bad Sebastian Sallow ending in Hogwarts Legacy. There are directions that the DLC could take, including seeing Ominis prepare to leave for America and visit Ilvermorny, which his ancestors founded.

Alternatively, it could follow Ominis as he struggles to find his place in the world now that his best friend has been taken from him, and potentially the conflict with the player that comes from that. It's not clear what happens to Ominis once the game is over, so the DLC could focus on how the player aims to help him. Again, this focuses on the more tragic aspects of Ominis' character, which may not necessarily make for the most enticing DLC, but considering he's easily one of the best characters in Hogwarts Legacy, it is an angle worth exploring.

Of course, regardless of what choice the player picks in the Sebastian Sallow questline, Ominis refuses to, or simply can't, talk to Sebastian. So, this storyline would work without conflicting with already-made choices.

No matter what angle the DLC chooses to approach Ominis' story, it will undoubtedly be interesting. His inclusion in the base game served as a fun nod to future characters, but it should go far beyond that in the DLC.

Ominis cannot be reserved as a mere cameo in Hogwarts Legacy, as he's too interesting of a character individually to be tied to who he's connected to. If Hogwarts Legacy wants to do justice to this character and make the most of having included him in the first place, then it desperately needs to focus on him in the DLC.
