Osho’s Maulshree tree saplings planted in the garden of Mahakaushal College in Jabalpur

The saplings originate from the tree under which Osho became enlightened, on 21 March 1953

Jabalpur’s forest officer, Dr. S.K. Jain, collected the flowers fallen from Osho’s Maulshree tree, located in the city’s Bhanwartal Garden, and extracted its genes. Within a few months, he handed over 11 saplings to Osho Mahakaushal College, where they were planted in the college’s campus on the occasion of Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary.

The Principal, Dr. A.C. Tiwari, and Professor Arun Shukla said that Osho used to spend most of his day at college, and that the chair he used to sit on while studying in the library was still preserved. And that visitors, coming from within India or from abroad, become emotional when they see the chair.

Dr. Shivchandra Walke, the NCC officer of the college, said that planting the saplings in their Knowledge Garden (Vidyavan), where students can sit and study, will be a guide and reminder for them.

Soon 11 Maulshree trees, grown from the genes of the tree under which Osho has become enlightened, will be adorning the campus in the not too distant future. All this thanks to Dr. S.K. Jain’s painstaking hard work, deep love for the environment and nature, and his connection with Osho.
