Barbie 2 In Early Stages With Greta Gerwig & Noah Baumbach Developing Sequel Story
Barbie 2 is reportedly in the early stages of development. The first movie took the world by storm, dominating the box office and culture at large as the cheery half of the Barbenheimer phenomenon. While the film doesn't end in a way that suggests a sequel was inevitable, its $1.4 billion box office haul may have Warner Bros. considering a second go regardless.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, WB is interested in greenlighting a sequel as Barbie's screenwriters, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, have approached the studio with an idea for another movie. Presently, reps for both Gerwig and Baumbach as well as WB deny THR's report, but the publication stands behind their reporting, citing they've learned the sequel is in "early stages" from a "well-placed source".
