Batman Reveals His New Stealth Mode, Marking a Major Addition to the Dark Knight's Deadly Arsenal

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Absolute Batman #2!The newest Batman on the block has made a lot of cool changes to the way the other Dark Knight operates, including his version of 'stealth mode'. The Absolute Universe continues to shape up and fans are getting to see more of its Batman and the way he's switching things up from the Prime Caped Crusader.

In Absolute Batman #2 by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta, Bruce is continuing his war against the Party Animals. Batman is making headway, but Roman Sionis' terrorist group is too large to take down. After consulting with his friends, Batman investigates mayoral candidate Hamilton Hill, who has just received a suspiciously large donation.

Batman breaks into Hill's campaign office and starts to look around. Rather than have his unique cape dragging behind him, Batman wraps the numerous hooks and wing-like material around his torso. Bruce walks through the base quietly while he looks for evidence connecting Hill and Sionis.

Batman's Got a Cool 'Stealth Mode' (That Makes Him Look Even Cooler)

A Low-Budget Stealth Mode for a Low-Budget Batman

In the new universe that Darkseid created, Batman lacks many of the things that the Prime Dark Knight has, including the funds and company to help build a hi-tech armory. But thanks to his intelligence and civil engineering skills, the Absolute Bruce has crafted a Batsuit where almost everything has a secondary or even a tertiary use. The ears on Batman's cowl can be used as batarang-like blades, his shoulder padding emits giant spikes, and his gigantic symbol doubles as an ax head. And that’s not even getting into the multiple uses of Absolute Batman's cape.

One thing that's obvious about the Absolute Batman is that he's a big guy and stealth almost certainly has to be hard for someone as muscle-bound as he is. And with the heavy hooks trailing on his cape, sneaking around can only be that much harder. But Batmen need to be able to skulk around quietly. Fortunately, Batman appears to have factored in how to minimize the noise caused by the hooks (and make himself look incredibly cool at the same time), once again showing that his more street-level approach is just as effective as the main Batman's advanced ways.

Sure, the Prime Universe Batman can do a lot of cool things with the fortune he has on hand. But despite never having much, the Absolute Batman has made all parts of his operation work, including whenever he needs to go stealth. Not only does it work to help him move around undetected, but it really does make him look a lot cooler. As he continues his mission to protect a more dire and dangerous version of Gotham, the Absolute Batman's stealth mode shows the ways that he's improving things as he grows.

Absolute Batman #2 is available now from DC Comics.
