The Game Awards came with a lot of new announcements for Xbox players, and the list is staggering. While there were rumors of some, many were completely new and were unexpected. There were so many that it was hard to keep up with them, but they were definitely worth going back to and checking on again.

Every game announced seems like it will do incredibly well. There's a lot of hope that there will be no delays for games where release dates were given, but that could always be the case. For now, the fans are just lucky to have gotten mentions of what there is to keep an eye out for and what's coming in the future.

1 The Witcher 4

The Long Awaited Sequel

Ciri appears to be the main character in The Witcher 4, as shown at The Game Awards. She looks like she's rescuing a woman her father and village sacrificed. Ciri is dressed in Geralt's Witcher gear and carries swords that look a lot like Geralt’s. She also wears a necklace that she went to the same school as Geralt, the School of the Wolf. Fans of the series should be excited to see her taking a lead role after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

She prepares really well for the fight, using the same potions that Geralt used when he fought monsters. She also effectively uses her witcher spells against a creature that looks like a mix of a spider, a wolf, and a witch. She defeats it just like we would expect her to. It looks like she has the potential to be a great main character. Unfortunately, her father ends up killing her, and it seems like Ciri sees the townspeople as if they were monsters. However, we hear Geralt's voice again.

2 Elden Ring Nightreign

The Sequel To A Game of the Year Winner

Elden Ring Nightreign was revealed at The Game Awards. It is a new co-op action-adventure game from Bandai Namco and From Software. The game is supposed to come out in 2025. It looks like a worthy sequel to Elden Ring, and it likely builds on everything that Elden Ring started. From the trailer, fans could see the combat and new areas shown.

It looks like the same hectic fighting except with players fighting together. Since it is a co-op game, there has to be at least a party of two. However, it looks like some scenes have up to four players helping the main player. Otherwise, it seems like an improvement to the original Elden Ring.

3 The Outer Worlds 2

From The Developers of Fallout New Vegas

Obsidian has returned with The Outer Worlds 2 at The Game Awards, and apparently, it took three times as long to make. Players should expect high quality from it then, as this was the same developer who brought fans Fallout: New Vegas, one of the most well-loved of the series. From just the trailer, it looks like it has a lot of the action players have come to expect.

While Microsoft bought Obsidian, this will not be exclusive to Xbox. However, the Xbox will likely get this as a day-one game on Game Pass. This is usually how games from studios under Microsoft are released. There wasn't much shown in the trailer besides combat, but it looks like it is similar to the original The Outer Worlds. This is expected from a sequel, but there's likely a lot more coming.

4 Split Fiction

A Whole New Sci-Fi Idea

Split Fiction is a new cooperative game created by Josef Fares that looks different from his earlier games. In the story, two writers named Mio and Zoe find their stories connected through a glitch at a publishing company that makes stories come alive. This leads to a gameplay experience that switches between a dark sci-fi world and a magical fantasy land. Players control both characters and can enjoy different types of gameplay, including fighting with laser swords, using magic spells, jumping over obstacles, and even encountering flying farting pigs.

The game features much better graphics than Hazelight's previous titles and feels like a full action-adventure game. On top of the main story, there are optional side missions with even more weird and funny situations, adding to the game's replay value. The cooperative elements are central to the game, with great design in the levels. It will be released on March 6, 2024.

5 FragPunk

A New 5v5 Shooter Has Arrived

FragPunk is a fast-paced 5v5 shooter game focusing on firefights. Each match lasts about 2.5 minutes and requires players to have good aim and quick reactions. Players can choose from 12 different heroes, each with their own special abilities, and equip them with one of 17 weapons that have unique features.

A key part of the game is the Shard Card system, which includes over 100 cards that can change how the game plays in each round. These cards can affect things like how players move or the way they fight, making every game feel different. Some cards might let players jump higher, switch team roles, or even bring players back to life. With bright graphics and a variety of maps, FragPunk seems like it will be a fun game to play once it releases.

6 Killing Floor 3

A Third Installment For Players

In the year 2091, players take on the role of specialists fighting against the monstrous creatures created by the Horzine Corporation in Killing Floor 3. It’s a thrilling first-person shooter that can be played solo or with up to six players. Players will face waves of increasingly tough enemies that AI enhances. As players go through the game, they earn money that can be used to unlock skills and a wide range of weapons, including flamethrowers and katanas.

Killing Floor 3 offers a lot of customization options, with hundreds of modifications, gadgets, and skills to make the gameplay unique to each player. Players will explore various dangerous environments where they can use traps to gain an advantage over enemies. The game also features a system that enhances the realism and brutality of the combat. Players must survive these challenges to protect the future of humanity, coming in March 2025.

7 Borderlands 4

We've Been Gone Too Long

Borderlands 4 was revealed at The Game Awards and takes place on a new planet called Kairos, which has been damaged by a collision with Pandora's moon. This chaos has led to the rise of the Rippers, a group led by Queen Callis, who are in conflict with the Timekeeper and his followers. Players can choose from four new Vault Hunters to fight against the Rippers and the Timekeeper's forces in this dangerous environment.

The game features improved looter-shooter gameplay with lots of loot, flexible combat, large boss fights, and returning characters like Claptrap. It will allow two players to play together on the same screen and support up to four players online. Borderlands 4 should be great for those who want the classic Borderlands experience with new elements and a fresh story set in the war-torn world of Kairos. The game is expected to be released after April 2025.

8 Splitgate 2

Another New Halo Killer?

Splitgate 2 is the sequel to the well-known free arena shooter game that focuses on using portals to fight enemies. Players, known as Aces, can use these guns to teleport around the maps and outsmart their opponents in fast-paced battles. The game includes different modes involving objectives, various maps, and customizable weapons.

The main goal is to get better at using the portals to win against other players. Overall, Splitgate 2 looks like a worthy sequel to a game that could have been the Halo killer.

9 Project Century

A New Project From The Yakuza / Like A Dragon Developer

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the Like a Dragon games, announced a new action game called Project Century at The Game Awards. Set in Japan in 1915, the game features intense and engaging fighting, as shown in a recently released trailer. While there aren't many details yet, the graphics look impressive, and the gameplay seems to be in line with the studio's previous work.

The trailer gives a short preview of the game's atmosphere and combat style, hinting at a gritty and immersive experience. Project Century is just one of several upcoming projects from the studio, suggesting they have an exciting future ahead. Although we don't know everything about the game yet, early feedback indicates it could be a captivating historical action title.

10 Onimusha: Way of the Sword

A Very Dormant Series

Capcom has announced a new game called Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which will be released in 2026. This is the first main game in the series since 2006 and brings back a franchise known for its sword fighting and dark fantasy settings inspired by Japan's Sengoku period. This newest entry seems like it will be faithful to the other games.

The series started in 2001 with Onimusha: Warlords and had several releases in the early 2000s before going quiet, except for a remake in 2019. Way of the Sword aims to capture the historical-fantasy action fans loved, aiming for a return to the engaging gameplay that made Warlords popular. A gameplay trailer looks amazing and shows off the deadly combat the games are known for.

11 Stage Fright

An Overcooked Successor?

Ghost Town Games, the makers of Overcooked, have announced their new game called Stage Fright. It's a two-player cooperative adventure published by Hello Games, known for No Man's Sky. The game mixes the hectic fun of Overcooked with challenges similar to those found in escape rooms, and you can play it on the couch or online.

Stage Fright has a magical and spooky atmosphere, resembling a mix of Luigi's Mansion and Overcooked, and it features a charming and heartwarming story. A small team spent five years developing the game, and it looks like it should have similar cooperative gameplay to Overcooked. While there aren't many details about how the game plays yet, it looks like it will still have the same humor.

12 Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Winter Is Coming

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is an upcoming open-world role-playing game from Netmarble. Players will take on the role of the heir to House Tyre, a lesser-known house from the North, during Season 4 of the show. Jon Snow will play a major role in the game, along with other popular characters, who the original actors will voice.

Players can choose from three classes: Sellsword, Knight, or Assassin, and they can also customize their character. The gameplay includes defending the Wall against White Walkers commanded by the Night King and exploring places like Winterfell. The game will have both single-player and multiplayer modes, but not many details are available yet

13 Double Dragon Revive

The Return of The King

Double Dragon Revive is set to launch on October 23, 2025. This new version brings back the classic beat-'em-up game for today’s platforms. The story takes place 15 years after a nuclear war, and players will control the Lee brothers as they fight against the Shadow Warriors gang to take back their dojo and reclaim their destroyed city. The game features updated 3D graphics but keeps the original gameplay style that fans loved.

Combat focuses on strategy and timing instead of just mashing buttons and includes scavenging for weapons and using the environment to your advantage. Developed with help from Arc System Works, this game offers better controls and balanced gameplay. Many familiar enemies return, now improved for this version, along with a dystopian story.

14 Screamer

A Remake That's Faithful

Screamer is a new version of a racing game from 1995, designed in cyberpunk anime style. Milestone develops it, and has changed a lot from the original arcade game. The game features drifting inspired by Initial D and has a storyline. The plot revolves around a mysterious street racing tournament and includes a variety of characters, focusing on themes like revenge, love, and greed.

Troy Baker will voice one of the characters, although it's not known which one yet. Polygon Pictures, known for creating cutscenes in games like Metroid: Other M, will produce the game's cinematic parts. Screamer wants to have exciting racing mechanics, a sci-fi story, and high-quality animation, providing a fresh experience in the racing genre with a unique cyberpunk look.

15 Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

Kart Racing Is Back

Sega has announced a new kart racing game, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, featuring Sonic and his friends. A short trailer shows Sonic driving his kart into a portal, suggesting that there will be different types of racing environments. This game continues the tradition of popular kart racers made by Sumo Digital, like Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, and its sequel, Transformed.

Transformed included characters from various franchises and had vehicles that could change forms. The previous game, Team Sonic Racing, only included Sonic characters and didn't get as positive a response as the earlier games. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is expected to build on the success of the All-Stars games, possibly bringing back the fan-favorite character cameos and varied gameplay, although more details haven't been shared yet.

16 Mafia: Old Country

This Thing of Ours

Mafia: The Old Country is a new game from Hangar 13 and 2K Games in the Mafia series. It takes place in Sicily in the 1900s and explores how the Cosa Nostra, or Mafia, started. The game is set in a tough and dangerous time, promising a gritty story about the rise of organized crime in Sicily. A trailer revealed at The Game Awards 2024 showed that the game will have a straightforward storyline with realistic details, which are key parts of the Mafia series.

While there's no official release date yet, it's expected to come out in summer 2025 to avoid competition with other big 2K games like Borderlands 4 and GTA 6. This prequel is the first game in the series after an eight-year break and aims to continue the legacy of earlier titles made by Illusion Softworks and 2K Czech.

Xbox players are very lucky to have seen so many great games coming to the console. While not every one of them got a release date or anything close, fans can rest assured that it's at least in the pipeline. The Game Awards is a great time to be a player because of all the reveals.
