From Season 4 Must Revive Boyd’s Biggest Story Set-Up That The Show Abandoned

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3.From season 4 should return to an abandoned season 3 storyline involving Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) and the monsters. In season 3, From's cast of characters were more threatened by the monsters than ever before. From season 3, episode 1 made this clear when the monsters let the farm animals loose at night and were waiting in the barn for Boyd and Tian-Chen Liu (Elizabeth Moy) when they returned with the animals. The monsters tearing open Tian-Chen's skull and killing her while they forced Boyd to watch was among the series' most brutal scenes so far.

The monsters did not relent after the premiere, as From season 3, episode 4 saw the monsters killing the paramedics the night they arrived in Town with Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno). Perhaps most haunting of all was the reveal in From season 3's ending that the creature growing inside Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) all season long was the Smiley monster (Jamie McGuire), since the monsters are immortal, and Smiley's death at Boyd's hands was only temporary. These developments kept From's characters busy and caused one monster-related storyline to get sidelined.

From Season 4 Needs To Follow Up On Boyd's Plan To Capture & Interrogate A Monster

He Suggested To Ellis After Tian-Chen's Funeral

After Tian-Chen's funeral in From season 3, episode 2, Boyd told his son, Ellis Stevens (Corteon Moore), that they need to catch one of the monsters. Boyd felt like he needed to take action after the trauma of Tian-Chen's death. He was tired of feeling as though he and the other residents were just waiting around for the next atrocity to happen and thought that if they could catch one of the monsters alive, they could learn information that would be helpful.

Related From Season 3 Finally Explains A Major Mystery About The Monsters' Ages From season 3's ending answers major questions about the monsters, including why they are all adults and why there are no children among them.

Tabitha's return, Fatima's pregnancy, and many other issues became Boyd's focus for the rest of the season and his plan to capture and interrogate a monster was dropped. Now that the From season 3 finale revealed the monsters' origins and that they are immortal, it is arguably even more important for Boyd to capture a monster and to get answers in From season 4. Like many things the residents try to do in From, this will likely go horribly wrong, but it is an enticing possibility, and one that should be revisited in the next season.

The Man In Yellow Is The One Who Will Actually Have The Answers Boyd Wants In From

Boyd Doesn't Know About The Man In Yellow Yet

Close

Boyd might think that capturing any of the monsters would be useful, but the Man in the Yellow Suit (Douglas E. Hughes) is likely the one with the answers he wants. The problem with this is that the only characters who definitely know about the Man in the Yellow Suit are the deceased Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) and a future version of Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy). Tabitha and Jade Herrera (David Alpay) know from their past lives how the monsters were created, but it is unclear if they know about the Man in the Yellow Suit.

From was officially renewed for season 4 on November 21, 2024.

The Boy in White (Vox Smith) probably knows about the Man in the Yellow Suit, but he has never appeared before Boyd before, and emphasized that he cannot directly tell the residents what to do. It is only a matter of time before Boyd and the villainous Man in the Yellow Suit cross paths, but until then, Boyd will still be preoccupied with the regular monsters. If he does manage to catch one, it probably will not go how he wants to, and will end with another tragic From death.
