On her official Instagram account, Jennifer Love Hewitt announced that she has now officially joined the cast of the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel. The image, which has a caption teasing that "Julie James is returning" and promises that "I know what you will be doing next summer," shows Hewitt looking into a mirror covered in notes that read "I know what you did last summer" in a shot reminiscent of Sarah Michelle Gellar's character Helen Shivers being menaced in the original movie. This announcement that Hewitt has closed her deal to reprise her original role comes more than a year after it was originally announced that she was in talks to join the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel in February 2023.
