Ryan Reynolds Just Teased The Perfect MCU Team-Up After Deadpool & Wolverine
Deadpool's future in the MCU in the wake of Deadpool & Wolverine hasn't yet been revealed, but the Merc with a Mouth's perfect partnership might have just been teased by Ryan Reynolds. Even though Deadpool & Wolverine ended with Wade Wilson returning home to Earth-10005, the official designation for 20th Century Fox's X-Men universe, the door is now open for the beloved antihero to join the MCU permanently. It's unclear what Deadpool's future holds, but he has the opportunity to team-up with any number of iconic MCU heroes.
Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool has teamed-up with some brilliant characters in his previous eponymous live-action projects: Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool, and Cable and Domino in Deadpool 2. Deadpool & Wolverine partnered the Merc with a Mouth with a variant of Hugh Jackman's titular X-Men hero, and it stands to reason that Deadpool will continue to join forces with some of the MCU's best characters after his official MCU debut. One possible partnership, now perhaps teased by Ryan Reynolds, would be perfect for Deadpool's next MCU adventure.
Ryan Reynolds’ Admiration For Florence Pugh Could Tease A Deadpool & Black Widow Team-Up
Ryan Reynolds & Andrew Garfield Praised Florence Pugh

Ryan Reynolds recently joined former Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield to interview each other as part of Variety's Actors on Actors series. While Reynolds discussed his experience working on Deadpool & Wolverine, Garfield delved deeper into his recent A24 flick, We Live in Time, in which he shared the screen with Florence Pugh. Both Reynolds and Garfield gave Pugh high praise at roughly the 46-minute mark of their interview, with Garfield calling her "a legit star," and Reynolds suggesting she's "one of the best living actors."
Ryan Reynolds: And Florence Pugh is, I mean, wow. Andrew Garfield: Florence Pugh, yeah, she's a legit star. Ryan Reynolds: One of the best living actors that I've seen. Andrew Garfield: I agree. I fully, fully agree.
While these comments don't directly tease a team-up between Deadpool and Yelena Belova in the MCU, they do suggest that Ryan Reynolds would jump at the chance to work alongside Florence Pugh. Pugh has currently portrayed Yelena Belova in two MCU projects, and is set to return in 2025 in Marvel Zombies and the live-action Thunderbolts* movie. These projects could set her on a path that may eventually lead to her crossing paths with Deadpool, and this would certainly be a captivating and entertaining partnership to see in the MCU.
Why Deadpool & Yelena Belova’s Black Widow Would Work Perfectly Together
Deadpool & Yelena Belova Have Crossed Paths In Marvel Comics
Both Wade Wilson and Yelena Belova are formidable antiheroes in the MCU, and their brutal methods of getting their jobs done mean they already have a lot in common. Deadpool is a former mercenary, while Yelena Belova was an assassin working for the Red Room, so their questionable and troubled pasts would also bond them intimately. There's also precedent for Deadpool and Yelena Belova to cross paths in Marvel Comics, as Belova was a member of a Thunderbolts team in 2009 that was sent to kill Deadpool.

During their interactions in Marvel Comics, Wade Wilson and Yelena Belova actually fell in love with each other, but their opposing missions meant that their romance was dead before it ever truly began. With Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova set to appear in the MCU's first Thunderbolts team in 2025, it would be great to see her eventually lead this group to fight Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, which could bring their strange Marvel Comics relationship into the MCU. This development could also answer a huge question concerning Deadpool's own future in the MCU.
1 Upcoming Superhero Team Is Deadpool’s Perfect MCU Future
Deadpool Could Join The Thunderbolts in The MCU
While Yelena Belova - who was actually revealed to be Natasha Romanoff in disguise - joined Marvel Comics' Thunderbolts in 2009, Wade Wilson's Deadpool found himself recruited onto a different iteration of the team in 2013's Thunderbolts (Vol. 2). This clear connection means it's actually very likely that Belova's Black Widow and Deadpool will cross paths in the MCU's future. Ryan Reynolds' future with Marvel Studios is uncertain after Deadpool & Wolverine, but he'll surely return given the movie's immense success, and this could promote him to the Thunderbolts team.
As one of Marvel Studios' most powerful, popular and profitable antiheroes, it would make a huge amount of sense for Deadpool to join the Thunderbolts team in the MCU's future. The Thunderbolts are just starting out, but after his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson could bring some star-power, gravitas and color to the team. He'd make a fantastic leader, or perhaps co-leader alongside Florence Pugh's Black Widow, and this evolution for the Merc with a Mouth could make Ryan Reynolds' dreams of working with Pugh a reality.
