Onyx Storm's French Blurb Reveals A New Obstacle To Violet Finding Xaden's Cure
Rebecca Yarros has already released several teasers for the upcoming publication of Onyx Storm, including a full three-page excerpt in Cosmopolitan UK. These bite-size previews of the next Fourth Wing book have only added to the excitement around what will come next in the Empyrean Series—but it's unlikely Yarros will reveal anything else ahead of Onyx Storm's publication date. Thankfully, there are a few more clues about the next book that can be found in the French back cover blurb for Onyx Storm.
Hugo Day Romance, Yarros' French publisher, recently posted the back cover blurb for Onyx Storm on their Instagram stories—and the post reveals new information about Onyx Storm's plot. The blurb for the French edition is indeed different from previous Onyx Storm reveals, and it details how Violet will be given a mission to search for the seventh species of dragon. This is a huge development in the overall plot for Onyx Storm—and the goal to uncover the truth about Andarna's den may serve as a new obstacle in finding a cure for Xaden.
Violet Will Be Tasked With Finding The Seventh Species Of Dragon In Onyx Storm
They May Be The Key To Defeating The Venin

From the French blurb of Onyx Storm, it's clear that both Andarna and the seventh species of dragon will hold a major role throughout the third book's narrative. Where before it seemed finding the cure for Xaden would be the main priority, it now looks like Violet will be sent out on a mission to find Andarna's den instead. Knowing that something defeated the venin over 600 years ago—and that Andarna waited nearly the same length of time to hatch—it's too much of a coincidence for the seventh breed of dragon not to be the key to defeating them.

It's likely Violet will come to this same conclusion, and her mission in searching for Andarna's den will certainly uncover truths long forgotten. If the seventh dragon den knew how to defeat the venin, it would make sense for Violet to dedicate so much time to search for them. And as the war with the venin has only just begun, it's imperative for Navarre to understand how to defeat them once and for all. While searching for these answers could prove to be incredibly helpful in winning the war, it could also mean Violet's search for Xaden's venin cure will be delayed.

Iron Flame's Xaden twist left both Violet and fans reeling, and unfortunately, Onyx Storm's French blurb doesn't provide much hope for Xaden getting cured in book three. While Violet's search for the seventh dragon den should prove to be important to the war effort, it likely means her search for Xaden's cure will be interrupted. From the Onyx Storm excerpt, it seems Xaden has been dealing with his venin transformation well, but that doesn't mean he won't be tempted to progress later in the book.
Yarros has already made it clear that Violet desperately wants to find a cure for Xaden, but with the distraction of the seventh dragon den, it's unlikely Xaden will be cured in Onyx Storm.
Knowing Violet will be distracted searching for answers elsewhere is a major cause for concern—especially if Xaden takes a turn for the worse. Yarros briefly depicts Jack Barlowe's struggles in becoming a venin in Iron Flame, and while Barlowe clearly isn't as strong-willed as Xaden, it shows how much the venin's power can corrupt its host. Yarros has already made it clear that Violet desperately wants to find a cure for Xaden, but with the distraction of the seventh dragon den, it's unlikely Xaden will be cured in Onyx Storm.
