Calorie count
As we approach the festive season, it’s important to remember these calorie rules
If you eat something and nobody sees it, no calories will be counted.
If you drink a light lemonade and at the same time eat a bar of chocolate, then the calories in the chocolate are obliterated by the lemonade.
If you eat together with others, only the amount of calories you eat more than the others eat will be counted.
Calories of food which is consumed for medicinal purposes (e.g. hot chocolate, red wine, cognac) do not need to be counted.
Food which is consumed as part of entertainment. i.e. while watching a video or listening to music (e.g. popcorn, peanuts, lemonade, chocolate or sweets), do not contain any calories as they are not consumed as food proper – they count as being part of entertainment.
Anything licked from knives, pots or spoons, while preparing food, also do not contain calories – they are part of food preparation.
Pieces of cake or pastries if broken and eaten piece by piece do not contain any calories.
Frozen food does not contain calories obviously, because calories are a unit of energy (i.e. heat).
