No Good Deed's MCU Reunion Is Even Funnier With Luke Wilson's Marvel Movie Lie
Warning: Spoilers ahead for No Good Deed season 1!The creator behind Netflix's Dead to Me is back with a new dark comedy titled No Good Deed, and the show features a surprising MCU reunion that doesn't go unnoticed. No Good Deed's cast is led by sitcom vets Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, alongside an impressive ensemble cast that also includes Linda Cardellini, who previously starred in Liz Feldman's Dead to Me. Like Dead to Me, No Good Deed is full of twists and turns surrounding a mysterious death.
The death at the center of No Good Deed happens to be Jacob Morgan, the son of Kudrow and Romano's characters, who both have been holding onto their own secrets. By No Good Deed's ending, the circumstances surrounding Jacob's death are unveiled, as the show satisfyingly ties up a majority of the loose ends, including who gets the Morgan house. That said, the characters affected by the web of lies are notable veterans of a massively popular franchise, despite not starring in a project together, or at least not yet.

While No Good Deed might appeal to sitcom fans, thanks to the involvement of Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, those familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe might notice a few recognizable faces in the Netflix dark comedy. No Good Deed's cast features three notable MCU alums, including Linda Cardellini, Teyonah Parris, and O-T Fagbenle, with Cardellini having the most MCU appearances under her belt. Aside from appearing as Laura Barton in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Endgame, and Hawkeye, she voiced Lylla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Several No Good Deed actors also worked on DC projects, including Linda Cardellini (Creature Commandos), Luke Wilson (Merry Little Batman, Stargirl), and Rory Scovel (Harley Quinn).
Teyonah Parris made her MCU debut in 2021's WandaVision, playing Monica Rambeau, a role she reprised in 2023's The Marvels alongside Brie Larson. The actress will also voice the character in What If...? season 3. O-T Fagbenle, on the other hand, appeared as Rick Mason in 2021's Black Widow and returned as the character in an episode of Secret Invasion. Interestingly, No Good Deed's Denis Leary may not have appeared in the MCU, but he has a history with Marvel after portraying George Stacy in the first two The Amazing Spider-Man movies.
No Good Deed's MCU Actors Pay Off JD's Fake Marvel Movie Audition
Luke Wilson's Character Makes Up A Fake Marvel Movie & Superhero
Considering how many MCU vets have key roles in No Good Deed, it seems like no coincidence that a character would poke fun at superhero movies. Throughout the dark comedy, it becomes clear that JD is struggling with the state of his acting career. At one point, he tries to reassure his wife about how his next big break could be on the way, claiming that he has an audition for Marvel's upcoming movie called Captain World. JD even lies to Margo by making up a fake Marvel superhero, Universe Man, whom he claims to be auditioning for.

Luke Wilson's No Good Deed scene is made funnier by the fact that Cardellini, the cast member with the most experience acting in superhero projects, is the one on the other end of JD's lie. By No Good Deed's ending, the truth comes out, proving why Margo (aka Luann) killed Jacob and has been preying on JD due to his celebrity status. Though JD doesn't get cast in a Marvel movie, the character is shown acting in a show called Teton Territory, which is likely meant to be a Yellowstone knockoff.
