Wicked Box Office Reaches Major Global Milestone As It Prepares To Pass Kung Fu Panda 4 & Godzilla x Kong

Amidst serious disappointment from recent box office releases, Wicked continues to thrive. In a week that saw Kraven the Hunter and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, the Spider-Man villain and the Tolkien adaptation could not surpass the latest Wizard of Oz musical. After a record-breaking opening weekend, which brought in over $160 million worldwide, Wicked has already surpassed its $145 million budget.

This weekend, it has seen even more success. According to a report by Variety, the musical adaptation crossed $524 million worldwide after earning $359 million domestically. It is now poised to pass both Kung Fu Panda and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which each earned $547.6 million and $571.1 million respectively. It is also officially the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in domestic box office history, having far surpassed Grease (1978)'s $188.62 million total.
