Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumas

Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.4 introduces two new characters that players can control. Both are top agents from Section 6 of New Eridu Public Security: Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa. Players who don't like how Miyabi can switch and use Harumasa, as each one offers a different way of combat, so players can switch depending on what they prefer.
Hoshimi Miyabi is the youngest Void Hunter and the Chief of Section 6. She uses a special sword called the Ethereal-Slaying Katana – Tailless, passed down in her family and is known to be cursed. Miyabi's fighting style involves creating a powerful ice effect called Icefire that can freeze enemies and trigger strong bonuses for her team, like a damage boost called Frostburn – Break. Her personal story reveals her struggles and the burden of her family’s legacy.
It looks like the character leaks were right about Harumasa.
On the other hand, Asaba Harumasa is an Electric-attribute Agent who offers a different combat style. He is skilled with both a bow and a sword, making his fighting style fast and unpredictable. He uses traps called Electro Quivers that mark and damage enemies, allowing him to plan strategic attacks for high damage. His ability to switch easily between ranged, and close combat gives him a unique tactical advantage. His character's story uncovers a complex background, focusing on his pressures and path to self-discovery.

Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.4 introduces Port Elpis and the Reverb Arena. Port Elpis is a historically significant location that played a key role in New Eridu's past, particularly during the fall of the old capital when it helped supply emergency resources. As Season One comes to a close, Port Elpis will become an important part of the story. Once it is released, players can dive into its history, uncover secrets, and play through its story missions.

On the other hand, the Reverb Arena has a more lively and energetic vibe compared to Port Elpis. This area features various events, including a special game called Bangboo vs. Ethereal. In this tower defense-style event, players will need to strategically place their Bangboo units to fend off waves of enemies called Ethereals. The event has multiple levels that will test players' skills in deploying their units, with opportunities to earn new Bangboo units and upgrades.
Additionally, the Reverb Arena includes a fan support campaign run by an HIA staff member, where players can show their knowledge of Section 6 and participate in promotional activities for rewards. So even those who may not want to grind through the tower defense-style levels of Bangboo vs. Ethereal can get rewards from the new update.

Zenless Zone Zero's Version 1.4 update brings big changes to the game. One of the major updates is how the main story is presented. Instead of mostly watching cinematic cutscenes, players will now actively participate in the story through combat and exploration in reworked levels. This hands-on approach makes up for how long players sit and watch the game. There's also a new Journey system that helps clarify mission goals and gives better tutorials for those who were confused. For those who prefer it, a traditional cinematic option is still available.
Related Why Zenless Zone Zero Will Likely Get Another Class & What It Could Be HoYoverse has a track record of adding a new class or element to its games, meaning Zenless Zone Zero is on track to receive similar treatment.
The update adds two important new locations. Port Elpis is a historically important port city that plays a central role in the first season's final chapter, and the Reverb Arena is a festive place for hosting various events. The update includes the Shadows Lost expansion from Hollow Zero, which has battles in the Lost Void and new gear, Bangboo Assist skills, and Resonia for better team strategy. A new time-limited mode called Deadly Assault has players fight tough enemies, rewarding them based on their damage output and mastery of Agent skills with a star rating system.
The improvements to combat could fix what's holding Zenless Zone Zero back.
A handy change lets each Agent gather and uses their Ultimate abilities separately. Additionally, the Quick Sweep feature lets top players from previous seasons skip earlier levels. A new Free Roam mode lets players explore New Eridu with their Agents, helping them build relationships and triggering special events through a Quality Time system that increases Agent Trust.
The update also simplifies how players upgrade their Agents, with new recommendations and user-friendly navigation for tracking their progress through the Proxy Journey feature. Other changes include a streamlined UI for upgrade requirements, improvements to Drive Disc and W-Engine enhancements, and dynamic wallpapers once a player reaches Trust Level 4. Lastly, the mobile version gains a Video Management feature to help save storage space in Zenless Zone Zero.
