Karate Kid: Legends director Jonathan Entwistle explained how Mr. Han is connected to Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Miyagi. The Karate Kid franchise will return to the big screen in 2025 with the new movie. The last Karate Kid movie was released in 2010, and featured Jackie Chan's Mr. Han training Dre Parker in kung fu. Chan will return in Karate Kid: Legends to train a new student alongside Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso, the main character of the original three Karate Kid movies.
Ever since the announcement that both Chan and Macchio would be reprising their roles in Karate Kid: Legends, it has been unclear exactly how Mr. Han is connected to the characters from the original Karate Kid films. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Entwistle explained that Chan's inclusion in Karate Kid: Legends makes perfect sense since the Han family and the Miyagi family are connected. Without giving too much away, I can say that Mr. Han and Mr. Miyagi are the connection to Daniel. The Han family and the Miyagi family are connected all the way back to the old times. And there is a mention of this within the Karate Kid movie canon for those people who want to go looking for it.
