Pokémon GO: Holiday Part 1 Event Guide

Pokémon GO: Holiday Part 1 Event Guide

The Christmas season is about to be well and truly underway in Pokémon GO as the Holiday Part 1 event will soon be upon us to launch festive activities into high gear. Along with a new costumed Pokémon debut, a particular range of increased spawns, event bonuses, special Egg pools, an altered selection of raid bosses, and much more, there is plenty to keep you busy in this first part of the game's festively-themed fun.

The words "first part" are key here since after this event's limited run, Pokémon GO will be having a Part 2 event starting soon after. With debuts, bonuses, and other Raid bosses themselves, there will be a lot to keep track of as we saw out the game's 2024 run. Nevertheless, as long as you make a note of the current Raid boss schedule and Max Monday schedule, making a note of the additions in light of these events shouldn't be too difficult to make the most of everything to enjoy in December 2024.

Five Days in December

The Holiday Part 1 event will start in Pokémon GO on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM for five days. The event will conclude on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 9:59 AM. Keep in mind that these dates and times are all local time. This means you will not need to worry about converting anything to your location.

The Pokémon GO Web Store will also have an Ultra Holiday Box available. This will include a Storage upgrade, an Item Bag upgrade, and 17 Rare Candies.

Five days is quite a lengthy event compared to others this year. For example, the debut of Gigantaxmax Lapras only took place over the course of three hours. Community Days can be just as short and sweet, also taking place over three hours and being over before you know it. In Holiday Part 1's case, you'll have plenty of time to take a break from festive celebrations to sample all the various features this event has to offer.

All Pokémon Debuts During Holiday Part 1 Event

A Christmas-Themed Dedenne

Only one major Pokémon debut is happening in the Holiday Part 1 event: the arrival of Dedenne wearing festive holiday attire. Specifically, the Antenna Pokémon will be sporting an adorable Santa hood, two pom-poms on its left ear, and a pair of jingle bells on its tail. Dedenne has already been a part of the game since its debut back in November 2021 as part of the Festival of Lights event, and costumed variants only have cosmetic differences with no alterations in stats.

Be that as it may, Trainers who love costumed variants of Pocket Monsters in Pokémon GO won't want to miss out on this one. What's more, a Shiny version of this Dedenne in holiday attire will also have a chance of spawning. According to the list of Shiny spawn rates, it appears there should be a 1 in 256 chance of having this particular Shiny Dedenne appear, still making the chances rather slim. On the other hand, enough trial and error might see you encountering one with the right amount of luck.

Increased Spawns & Wild Encounters During The Holiday Part 1 Event

Fitting the Winter Theme

Once Pokémon GO's Holiday Part 1 event starts, you will also start to see an increased number of particular spawns. These will include Alolan Sandshrew, Swinub, Numel, and Litleo. There is an interesting mix, but there is notably a good mix of Ice-type Pokémon to fit the theme of this winter event. The full list of increased spawns and other important information to keep in mind is as follows:

Increased Spawn Can It Be Shiny? Alolan Diglett Yes Alolan Sandshrew Yes Bergmite Yes Darumaka Yes Delibird Yes Litleo Yes Numel Yes Sandygast Yes Snover Yes Swinub Yes

Most notably, though, Sandygast can also be Shiny if you're lucky. That's along with Delibird coming back wearing the holiday ribbon cosmetic. All of these Pokémon can now be Shiny, so there is plenty of opportunity to expand your collection of multicolored variants.

All Raids During The Holiday Part 1 Event

Some Festive Bosses

Holiday Part 1 will also see a new selection of One- and Three-Star Raids added to Pokémon GO for the month. These include those returning for signature holiday attire like Pikachu in a Winter Carnvival Outfit, Psyduck in base holiday attire, and Glaceon in an Undersea Holiday outfit. There will also be Mega Raids that were already being run as part of the current Raid schedule. The Holiday Part 1 raid bosses are as follows:

Raid Boss Raid Type Can It Be Shiny? Dedenne (Holiday attire) One-Star Yes Pikachu (Winter Carnival) One-Star Yes Psyduck (Holiday attire) One-Star Yes Sandygast One-Star Yes Cryogonal Three-Star Yes Glaceon (Undersea Holiday) Three-Star Yes Stantler (Holiday outfit) Three-Star Yes Mega Latias Mega-Raid Yes Mega Latios Mega-Raid Yes

While all of these raid bosses can be Shiny, you will need to keep in mind that the odds can still be relatively low. For example, the odds of getting Shiny encounters with a Mega Raid boss currently sit at 1 in 128. Since Holiday Part 1 is going on for five days, you hopefully will be able to find one with enough attempts.

Holiday Part 1 Eggs, Bonuses & Rewards

Special 7KM Hatches

As a reward for taking part in Holiday Part 1, playing during the event will award you with 2x XP for catching any Pokémon, along with the required distance for hatching Eggs to be cut in half. In addition to the raid bosses and increased encounters, the Egg pool for those that can hatch from 7KM Eggs will also be altered. All of the Pokémon that can hatch from 7KM Eggs in Pokémon GO during the five-day run of the event are as follows:

Hatchable Pokemon Can It Be Shiny? Amaura Yes Charcadet No Cubchoo (Holiday Ribbon) Yes Hisuian Growlithe Yes Numel Yes Pichu (Summer flair) Yes Sandygast Yes Snover Yes Spheal (Holiday scarf) Yes Swinub* Yes

Along with themed Collection Challenges, PokéStop Showcases, and Field Research tasks that will be revealed at the start of the event, Paid Timed Research is available for the price of $2.00 (or local currency equivalent). As for rewards, this Holiday Part 1 Timed Research can offer you Egg Incubators, 1500 Stardust, event-themed Pokémon encounters, and two Premium Battles passes. Just remember its start date of Tuesday, December 17, and all of these bonuses can be yours as you participate in Pokémon GO's Holiday Part 1 event.
