The Wheel Of Time Season 3 Casts 4 Pivotal, Long-Awaited Book Characters

The Wheel of Time season 3 has cast four pivotal and long-awaited characters, revealing new information about the upcoming episodes. Adapted for television by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins, The Wheel of Time season 3 debuts globally on Prime Video on March 13. The latest installment will see the threats against the Light increasing. As the White Tower is divided, old enemies return. Amidst all of this uncertainty, Rand (Josha Stradowski) feels unconnected to his past and his corrupted power grows stronger. It poses the question of whether the Dragon will turn to the dark.

Prime Video has confirmed that Wheel of Time season 3 has added four new cast members: Olivia Williams, Luke Fetherston, Callum Kerr, and Nuno Lopes, with all four portraying the royal family of the kingdom of Andor. In the fantasy novels on which the Prime Video show is based, from author Robert Jodan, Andor is the largest, most populous, and most influential country within the Westlands.

Williams, who currently stars as Reverend Mother Tula Harkonnen in HBO's Dune: Prophecy, will play Andor Queen Morgase Trakand. Though she did not inherit the throne, Morgase waged a brutal war when there was no successor. Because of her political savvy and ruthlessness, she won. She has vowed to spare her daughter from what she went through. Far from a tyrant, Morgase is regarded as one of the best rules and queens Andor has ever seen. Williams is also known for her roles on The Crown and appearing in films such as The Sixth Sense and The Father.

Fetherston, who recently starred in the dark dramedy Big Mood, will play the royal prince of Andor, and brother to Gawyn and Elayne, Galad. Described as a skilled fighter, who is famously handsome, Galad is famously protective of his younger sister. Fetherston is also known for his role as Adam in the Apple TV+ comedy Still Up.

Kerr (Hollyoaks, One Piece) will play Lord Gawyn of House Trakand. Another royal prince of Andor, Gawyn is a royal prince of Andor, Gawyn is the older brother of Galad and Elayne. He is not the heir to the throne since Andor is a matriarchy, which means the role of heir falls to his younger sister Elayne. As for Lopes (White Lines), he portrays Queen Morgase's male consort who is named Lord Gaebril. He is both her lover and advisor, assisting in military and political matters.

What The Latest Casting Means For Wheel Of Time Season 3

Andor Gets A Big Spotlight

With these latest castings, it's worth noting that The Wheel of Time already features the character of Elayne. She was introduced in season 2, with Ceara Coveney playing the role. But the upcoming episodes seem poised to put a bigger spotlight on Andor, with some potentially interesting character dynamics coming into play. The show's highly-anticipated third installment is largely based on the third book The Shadow Rising, though the focus on Andor is a long time coming.

The new characters were all featured early on in Jordan's books. Although they are making their TV show a little later, there are a few points to keep in mind. The foursome ties in with the previously announced casting of Shohreh Aghdashloo, seen recently in The Penguin, who will play a former advisor to the newly-introduced Queen. But as with just about any royal family in a fantasy story, there will be rivalries and loyalties to keep in mind.

It's A Great Choice

Although the attention will be on Rand in the aftermath of Wheel of Time's season 2 ending and looking ahead to what may come next, the Prime Video hit series has made some excellent new additions to its large ensemble. Williams, in particular, is once again a veteran of the fantasy genre after Dollhouse, The Nevers, and the Dune series.
