Deadpool's Best Story Is Gearing Up For Its Final Run as the Icon Prepares to Kill the Marvel Universe... Again

Deadpool's Best Story Is Gearing Up For Its Final Run as the Icon Prepares to Kill the Marvel Universe... Again

One of the darkest and most popular Marvel Comics features none other than Deadpool slaughtering his way across the Marvel Universe. Despite the remarkably dark tone, one of the best-selling Deadpool series has always been Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, and now, Marvel is returning for one last story to conclude this trilogy.

Marvel just announced that Deadpool will be returning to take on not just the Marvel Universe, but the entire Marvel Multiverse. The creative duo behind the original stories, Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajić, will be returning for April's Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1. This five-issue miniseries promises to be the final story in their trilogy, and it's taking Deadpool in a completely unexpected direction across the Marvel Multiverse.

Fans have seen Deadpool kill his way through the hero community several times, and he even went after the old fables that inspired heroes, slaughtering fictional characters like Moby Dick and others. But Cullen Bunn's new take on Deadpool will be sending him after not Marvel's greatest heroes, but instead the darkest characters that Marvel has to offer.

The original idea behind Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe was pretty simple. Instead of Deadpool being the wacky, lovable character that he usually is, the story looked at what could happen if he ever went truly insane. While Deadpool is famous for breaking the fourth wall, in this comic, his knowledge of being in a comic book is what drives him to kill everyone around him. Wanting to free his friends from the whims of Marvel and its creators, Deadpool begins killing everyone he comes across. It's a brutal story, but this conclusion to the trilogy is going in a different direction.

At the end of the second series, Deadpool Kills Deadpool, an evil version of Deadpool, Dreadpool, is killed - meaning that this new Deadpool going on a rampage across the Marvel universe is unlikely to be Dreadpool. Another interesting fact is that the cover for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again #1 by Davide Paratore shows evil versions of the iconic heroes. Viewers can see Frankencastle, a Daredevil who was possessed by the Beast, and Superior Spider-Man. It seems that instead of going on a rampage against Marvel's greatest heroes, Deadpool will be going up against the darkest versions of Marvel's iconic heroes.

Dreadpool was the darkest version of Deadpool that fans have seen so far. It only makes sense that this final part of the trilogy would have a version of Deadpool who goes after Marvel's darkest heroes. Fans have already seen Deadpool take on the best that Marvel has to offer, so going in the exact opposite direction is possibly the best idea that Bunn and Talajić could have had. While it's unclear which version of Deadpool this will be - or why he'll be going on this rampage - one thing is clear: it's going to be an incredibly bloody and violent time.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One More Time #1 is available April 2nd, 2025 from Marvel Comics!
