Disney Dreamlight Valley: Gift Of Giving Event Guide
As the holiday season rolls around, it's time for Disney Dreamlight Valley's annual Gift of Giving event. As with previous years, there are a couple of returning elements, but there are also plenty of new things to discover. The Gift of Giving officially kicks off on December 18th, 2024, and runs until December 31st, 2024, meaning you have plenty of time to participate.
Since the Gift of Giving event is part of the Sew Delightful update, which brought Sally to Disney Dreamlight Valley, you won't need to update the game, just wait until the start date, and things will begin to spawn automatically. To know if the event is working in your game, you should find a letter in your inbox from the developers stating the event's start.

Once you've loaded up Disney Dreamlight Valley after the start date for the event, you should begin seeing Festive Wrapping Paper spawn near Scrooge's Shop. Only a maximum of four Festive Wrapping Papers will spawn at one time, so make sure you're collecting them; otherwise, more will never appear.

Once you have a decent stock of Festive Wrapping Paper or some leftovers from previous holiday seasons, you can begin crafting. With Festive Wrapping Paper there are four different gifts you can craft, including the Delicious, Handcrafted, Naughty, and Shiny Gift. While you don't need all of them to complete the event task, you will need at least 10 of any combination, and each requires different crafting materials to make them. You can find them under the Functional Items tab.
Gift Crafting Recipe Delicious Gift 1x Festive Wrapping Paper, 1x Hot Cocoa, 1x Minnie's Gingerbread Cookies Handcrafted Gift 1x Festive Wrapping Paper, 1x Holiday Feast Chair (Crafted under Furniture using 5x Hardwood & 3x Fabric) Naughty Gift 1x Festive Wrapping Paper, 1x Coal Ore Shiny Gift 1x Festive Wrapping Paper, 1x Shiny Emerald, 1x Shiny Ruby
Note that even if you don't complete these now or didn't complete them previously in 2023 or 2022, you can always find the holiday tasks in the Village section and complete them if you have the event materials. If you participated in previous years, you may have to scroll down a bit in your tasks to find them.

Furthermore, if you've already completed them, then you can simply enjoy using the Festive Wrapping Paper as you see fit. The various holiday tasks to complete include,
Task How To Complete Reward Ho! Ho! Ho! Give 10 villagers a gift using the Festive Wrapping Paper. This can be any of the four gift types, but you'll need to gift one to 10 different characters. Any of these will work for this task. Festive Candy Ears With Bow Cookie Taste Test Eat three different cookie recipes (Minnie's Gingerbread Cookies, Wonderland Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, etc). Santa Hat A Home For The Holidays Decorate indoors with 5 Festive Crafted Items or Event Items. (Examples: Holiday Feast Chair, Snowy Festive Window, Menorah, Snow Kid, etc.) Winter Carpet
In addition to hunting down Festive Wrapping Paper and crafting gifts for Disney Dreamlight Valley villagers, you'll also need to check out several fishing spots in the main valley to find some Festive Fish. These unique versions of the regular in-game fish make a minimal appearance during the Gift of Giving event, so you'll want to make sure you grab them before January 1st.
In 2023, players who had already caught the Festive Fish in 2022 were unable to catch them again as the bubble locations simply didn't spawn. However, this has been changed for 2024, and now anyone can catch one of each fish, regardless of whether you caught them in a previous year.
Each fish may only be caught once during the event, and each one features a tiny Santa Hat. Don't worry about having to hunt for them either, as each one will only appear in festive red and green bubble fishing spots, so you'll know if you have any spawned. These fish can be used normally by cooking with them in recipes, but since they're a limited-time Disney Dreamlight Valley event item, many players opt to safely store them where they won't accidentally use them.
Name Energy Location Festive Anglerfish +2,000 Forgotten Lands (6 pm-5 am local time) Festive Bass +150 Peaceful Meadow Festive Fugu +1,700 Dazzle Beach (During Rain) Festive Salmon +500 Sunlit Plateau Festive Squid +1,000 Glade of Trust
While they don't serve any other unique purpose, if you would like to save them and prevent accidentally using them, there are a few ways. If you have the secret room in the Dreamlight Castle unlocked, many players have opted to store them in a chest to access them easily and avoid accidentally using them when auto-filling recipes. Alternatively, you can place them as a decorative item in your home; just be sure you don't accidentally pick them up without noticing.

While many of the festivities are the same as in previous years, one new task includes that of building a unique snowman. To start this special event task, you'll first need to track down two different items in your valley. First, you'll need to explore the plaza and find a red treasure chest. The chest you're looking for resembles the ones you often stumble upon in the valley that provides 50 moonstones in Disney Dreamlight Valley, but you'll know it's the right one based on color.

After interacting with it, a memory will appear. Investigate the memory to be provided with a crafting recipe sheet. Unfortunately, the sheet won't tell you exactly what you're crafting or where to go to do it, and all the quantities are in Roman numerals. While the crafting bench may seem like an obvious option here, that's not where you'll be using the ingredients you're looking for. Instead, you'll need to head to Frosted Heights and look for a strangely placed, large snowball.
New Premium Shop Items have also been added, and one in particular is worth checking out. As a gift to players, Disney Dreamlight Valley is offering an Icy Star as a free item, but you still have to go to the shop to formally claim it.
Once you find it, you'll be able to interact with it. As you do so, you may notice that there are slots for items. The items required here are the ones listed on the memory you found, and they will need to be applied in the order specified. So the first interaction will be Snowballs, the second will be Fabric, Dandelions, and Hardwood, and finally, the third interaction will be more Fabric, Green Passion Lillies, and a Carrot.
Item Stage Materials Mad Hatter Snowman Stage 1 50x Snowballs Stage 2 18x Dandelions, 4x Hardwood, 23x Fabric Stage 3 10x Green Passion Lillies, 15x Fabric, 1x Carrot
Once you've done that, you will have crafted the Mad Hatter Snowman. Unfortunately, he is purely decorative and one of a kind, so you may collect him and place him wherever you like or put him in your inventory. As for the rest of the event rewards, be sure to check the Christmas tree in the Disney Dreamlight Valley castle, where you'll be able to find gifts waiting for you, starting from December 25th until December 31st.
