This area in the Vatican is swarming with hostile enemies, ready to attack the moment they spot you. As a result, you need to be extra careful exploring this space, so use your whip to distract guards away from different entry points to the building to make it easier to approach.

Another easy way to get into the Apostolic Palace is to equip the Blackshirt Uniform clothing item, which makes Indiana look like a member of the church. This will cause guards to allow you to pass into the Palace without trouble.

The front entrance of Father Ventura's office is locked, so you'll have to use the side door to get in. Once you enter the area, the Mystery will begin as you investigate the personal room of this high-ranking member of the church. The puzzle associated with this Mystery is tied to the Father's bookshelf, something you'll notice if you use your camera in Indiana Jones & TGC to notice something hidden.

There are four different books you can pull from Ventura's bookcase, but you need to pull them in the correct order to solve the Mystery. Each book has a unique symbol on its spine, including:

A Crown

A Triangle

A Star

A Sun

At first, you'll have no idea which pattern organizes the books in a particular order. However, like other areas of the Vatican level in Indiana Jones & TGC, you just need to look around to find the right clue. On Father Ventura's desk, you can pick up a Mysterious Note describing how the Father's bookcase was reorganized to include the hidden mechanism tied to the four books.

According to the Note, the four favorite Medieval Latin books of Father Ventura must be taken alphabetically to reveal a hidden compartment behind the bookcase. By flipping over the Note, you also learn the names of each book, as well as the symbol associated with each. With this crucial clue, you can now pull the following books in this specific order:

Francorum - Crown Logicae - Triangle QDV - Star Philosophiae - Sun

Pulling any of the books outside this order will cause the puzzle to reset with an audible noise. You can return to the note and double-check the right alphabetical order as many times as you want without worrying about alerting enemies.
